    Need help with the Beast

I was just discussing our HB version of 'the beast' this morning that friend & I made some years back. We did not hit the numbers on the bottle, but the final result of our brew came out excellent and got a 39 in LHB club competition. It was written up in NW Brewing News...

    What's the % ABV?

actually most of that loss is due to the fermenter shape and the trub.

    What's the % ABV?

Whew, more complex than expected, thanks, I'll have to print that out and try to figure it. Any water loss was fairly minimal because I got 11 gallons out of the 12, which is typical with my fermenter.

    What's the % ABV?

I'm trying to calculate a similar thing for a big Belgian I made, wondering how I would know the final ABV with this scenario: 9 gals in fermenter of 1.110 at high krauesen I added 3 gallons of 1.065 sugars FG = 1.012 I guessed this was around 15%.

    Munich Malt style

Cool to find this thread. I'm thinking of doing essentially the same thing only I have a Brown in the fermenter already using the Wyeast 1882-PC*Thames Valley II. Hope it turns out tasty.

    March pumps

any idea if the bronze head will react to any of the standard cleaning and sanitizing agents I might end up pumping through it on brew day? (besides bleach which is no longer part of my brew setup so no need to think about that one).

What Sanitisers and Cleaners are used.

One other question. Any suggestions of where to purchase pure Sodium Percarbonate instead of Oxyclean which is cut with fillers? Asked a couple of places in town and got a blank look.

    Ranco Electronic Temperature Control

Thanks for this link! This diagram was exactly what I was searching for about my questions with wiring my Ranco contoller. When I first has a look at the mfg instructions I was surprised that it gets wired up in series with the power cord. Seemed too easy and made me paranoid that I was making a...

    greetings from Eugene, Or

thanks for the pointer on the MLT thread but my MLT will be a converted keg. Let the research commence... I have a converted cooler with copper manifold and will probably make a batch using it to iron some initial setup kinks out, but the 1st big batch I'm planning with the keg MLT will be a...

Fellow homebrewers, meet my new beer engine . . .

This thread was inspirational. What an easy solution that will make me happy. I believe this is the best way to drink a beer hands down. When I lived in the bay area I drank cask conditioned ales every time I went to Magnolias or the Toronado. Now that I'm in Eugene, forget about it, I don't...
