    Fermentation temperature

I put an amber ale in my primary a few days ago and the room temperature was around 70 degrees. Few days later we're having chilly weather and the room temp is down to 63 degrees. Not much action going on in the fermenter/air lock. I wonder if this is totally going to screw up my brew. I put a...

    proper aeration when pitching

i'm preparing to make my first brew, but one question i had was how to properly aerate the beer when i pitch the yeast. the instructions on howtobrew explain using a plastic fermenter which you can just dump the wort into, but if i'm using a glass carboy it doesn't seem like the transfer will be...

    newbie bottling question

so is there a distinct advantage in using the oxygen absorbing bottle caps over the regular ones? also how do you sterilize the oxy absorbing caps if they're activated by moisture?

i'm a newbie, just starting to gather all the materials for my first brew. i want to by some bottles but all the ones that i've seen online have just been the boring amber bottles. i've seen bottles that have cool designs on them to make them a little more interesting. does anyone know where i...
