Seattle to San Diego - best breweries? Other attractions?

Just got back from Seattle and SanFranciso. Check out cloud burst in Seattle and cellar maker in SF. Definitely the two best places I found.

Heady Topper VT Weekend Trip/Beer Run

Definitely stop by prohibition pig for lunch, they usually have heady, sip of sunshine and a few beers from Lawson's. The only place they deliver on Saturdays is the beverage warehouse in Winooski. The place is huge and they have tons of great beer there. They get their delivery at ten...

What to drink in SEA and SFO

I'm headed to Seattle and San Francisco in a couple weeks and looking for recommendations on what and where to drink. Hoping to try some great beers not available on the east coast. IPA being my favorite style but there is nothing I don't enjoy. Thanks in advance!

    High Demand/Low Supply Breweries

Treehouse does a pretty good job. They can 3-4 days a week and sell out within 1-2 days of canning. They only sell their product at the brewery though. As long as you are willing to drive to the brewery you can always get your hands on what you want.

    Trub control/Conditioning Question

It sounds like what you are tasting is yeast in suspension. Do you cold crash your beers prior to kegging? That will get most of the yeast to floccuate. You may also consider using a fining agent. That will produce a very clear beer and will certainly remove almos all of the yeast that you...

dry hopping with pellets and whole hops....advice

Add them together it will work fine. You might consider dry hopping in your primary. There will be less O2 pick up and the yeast will scavenge some of the O2 that will be introduced. Oxygen is the biggest enemy of beer.

What was your Gatewaybeer to craft beer?

In the early 90's I had a college roommate from Belgium who's parents shipped him a regular supply of great beers. That got me started followed by big foot.

What are the best "local" beers?

Lucky enough to have Tree House and Trillium close by.

    Dry Hopping practices

Keep in mind that those extraction rates were achieved in stirred or pumped vessels. I've seen this done in carboys and conicals with really good results.

Dry Hopping + adding sugar? 120gal/450litre

I can't speak to their exact process but I suspect they will be close to FG introduce additional fermentables (sugar) to spur a second small fermentation when dry hopped. Dry hopping introduces a fair amount of O2 into the beer. Because of the renewed fermentation the yeast will use the O2...

Dry Hopping + adding sugar? 120gal/450litre

Dry hopping when active fermentation slows does several things. It minimizes oxidation that occurs during dry hopping as the yeast metabolize the O2. The hops will move throughout the beer decreasing the contact time necessary to extract aroma compounds and the yeast are able to metabolize...

Am I the only one that dislikes Amarillo Hops?

One of my favorites, especially in combo with other citrusy and tropical hops.
