The woes of a 120v brewer

I've been making one 2000w element work for my 5.25 gallon batches for the past 2-3 years just fine. A typical single infusion (batch sparge) all-grain day is around 4:30 and likely looks something like this: Time (min) Task 0-5 Measure mash water, mineral, and ph treatments...

    120 v heating element

120v works fine for me. See my response here and you will need a 20 amp circuit. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f170/how-many-watts-boil-around-7g-366016/#post4565160 This I seems to be the preffered element http://bostonheatingsupply.com/SP10868GL.aspx

Purpose of 2 ports on Brew Kettle

The primary purpose of the second port is for a thermometer. Can be easier reading that thermometer than using a handheld thermometer for some when heating up strike and sparge water.

    Zionsville IN water?

Pretty sure the water comes from Eagle Creek. I'm also from Zionsville and use RO water and build up using Martin's spreadsheet as a guide. Thanks Martin! I had not entered a NHC in over 10+ years until this with two beers advancing and a bronze in the finals. Highly doubt the results would...

    I have 2oz of Citra...what should I make?

I'd make an APA and split the 2oz to a 5 minute or knockout hop and the other half as a dry hop. Combine with Chinook, Centennial, Colimbus, and/or Cascade and be happy

How many watts to boil, around, 7g?

Just performed my second brew session recently with my 9 gallon electric kettle with a 2000w element. Took about 30 minutes to get 4 gallons from 70f to mash temp. Heated the sparge water while the mash was underway. Batch sparge the first half turn on the brewer while stirring for the second...
