Removing a broken tap from aluminum

I posted this in another thread, but I'm so impressed with this technique that I feel it should be shared with the entire DIY community. Say just hypothetically, you're tapping holes in aluminum, and you're too thirsty to think straight, you may end up breaking a tap. Removing a broken and...

WilliamsWarn Counter Pressure Filler design fix.

Santa was kind to me this Christmas. He brought me a WilliamsWarn Counter Pressure filler, which arrived 2 days early via Amazon. This relatively expensive, highly reviewed filler has one serious flaw. It's entire support structure is garbage, prone to falling over forwards. Picture...

fermenting in 1/6 BBL Sanke kegs

I have a few dozen 5.5 gal soda kegs that were converted to Sankes. Picked them up from a winery for cheap. I've femented in them before, but it's always been a pain My goal was to be able to clean out yeast cake and hop debris without pulling the spear, and dry hop in secondary without...

    Crazy idea?

SS tubing fittings are pricey. On a quest to save money, I'm going to attempt to silver solder 3/4 tubing into a 1/2" NPT female fitting. I cut some 1/2" NPT threads into the tubing easily, altough they're shallow and will never seal. But I can thread the tubing in, in fact, I cut the threads...

Preliminary plumbing plan complete... Member input please.

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4vXJz1SOThZSWdTMUVvSjQ5SlU&usp=sharing So here's where I'm at. I have the valves, most of the control, still need pumps, two kettles, elements and piping/fittings. Like a King's ransom in fittings, but I want it to be sweet. I feel I need the CLT...

Hello from the Craft Beer Capital of the World

Hello from San Diego! I'm a complete noob that's been scouring the net for anything "home brew" for a few weeks now like a kid searching for Easter eggs. I've been tasked with (volunteered) to build a brew stand for my daughter and myself to brew with, and to say it's turned into an...
