    A Tribute to Hunahpu

The version I brewed is not overly roasts at all. Prior to ferment it's pretty nasty. But it smooths right out after fermentation

    A Tribute to Hunahpu

I've had Marshall only once. I'd say from memory it's a different beer. This come off much more chocolaty and roast. Marshall is richer. Almost a soy saucy element to marshal that for some reason come off pleasant.

    A Tribute to Hunahpu

I cold pressed kona coffee into a batch and had really good results. I'm thinking you can do just about anything to the base recipe and it will hold up.

    A Tribute to Hunahpu

Sorry I meant to say that I used both of those yeasts separately on the batches. I don't think you have to worry about that esters coming through on 04. I have used it on lighter with success.

    hosehead electronic brewery controller

Just wanted to give a shout out to Corey. I bought my Hosehead in November and started using it in January. Had a bunch issues with the kettles not firing webpage not updating, ect... Figured it was user error but after about 6 batches under my belt things were not getting better. Contacted...

    A Tribute to Hunahpu

I used safale-04 and Thames Valley and the last batch with the recipe from post 30. Both English strains. They seem to both match well. I would say Thames Valley may provide a nicer mouth feel but I did do different recipes... Nothing bad at all coming from the beer. I had a 5 month old...

    A Tribute to Hunahpu

I have brewed the version on post 1 and now post 30. post 1 twice. Both are very sold RIS recipes. Post 30 came out closer to Huna. I dropped my estimated efficiency down 10% when brewing the last beer because I noticed a drop of efficiency when I brew big beers. I hit my numbers and was...

Russian Imperial Stout - Good to throw?

I wouldn't worry about it. I had a RIS finish at 1.048 once. People dug how thick and sweet it ended up. Brewed the same beer and it finished at 1.035 and people say "it's much thinner than the last time". Taste it, If you like it drink it.

    What's everyone dry hopping with?

Dry hops are a must imo. On a home brew level for a few bucks you can drop a few ounces in a batch. First impression of your beer is the aroma. I kill it with hops. I believe it adds nice flavor also. Try funky gold mosaic from prarie. It's a dry hopped sour. Incredible

    What's everyone dry hopping with?

The mix of Nelson and citra is magical. I let it sit for 48 hours and kegged this morning. Did a quick shake carb and drank tonight. It's dank. Has the smell of marijuana. Love it

    What's everyone dry hopping with?

Nelson sauvin is another good one. Do you guys usually keep it to one hop or mix a few different hops?

    What's everyone dry hopping with?

thanks for all the quick posts! Dry hopping is a must in my IPA's. I put in 4 or 5 ounces per 5 gallons. It's like a hop bomb! Also adds to the flavor.

I've never tried Columbus as a dry hop. I would guess a dank aroma?
