Your're not just a pretty face are you AHammer16?? I'm thinking that would even be a clever plan if I was Secret Squirrel! Thanks ;)

    Loss of pressure in keg

Thanks Orfy - any good kits you would recommend I try and that might be available in the UK?

    Loss of pressure in keg

It's pretty full (small air space) and yes - using the S30 cylinder. Thanks.

    Loss of pressure in keg

It's a king keg (available in the UK) - I'm sure the instructions recommended its use. It's a plastic/rubber large bore cylindrical o-ring.

    Loss of pressure in keg

With my second brew (ever), I have encountered a problem with my keg losing pressure. When I tried to draw a small amount off for testing I was unable to do so because the residual fermentation pressure in the keg was so low. I decided to remove the top and check for obvious problems. I resealed...

Secondary Fermentation - How do you do it?

Ok. I have a fermenting bin and a keg. I ferment for 7-9 days, rack to the keg add priming sugar and leave for a minimum of two weeks. How do I improve this system by adding a secondry fermentation stage?

    Big Head

Pouring from a keg. Clean glass. Did use a heading agent [Muntons Kreamyx] - would it be better to leave this out next time or does it add an extra level of flavour?

    Big Head

My brew's gotta big head when it's poured into the glass - what causes this?

    Carbonation Levels

Good point Steve. I had it in the primary for about 7 days and then I racked it to my secondary (a keg) at which point the priming sugar was added. It has now been in the secondary for two weeks. Perhaps it will improve with a further one to two weeks. It has just started to clear, tastes...

    Carbonation Levels

Hi folks. I've just brewed a tasty but slightly cloudy Woodforde's Wherry which is my first attempt and I'm quite pleased. However, it seems rather flat and was wandering whether real ales should be quite flat or perhaps I have done something that has affected its level of carbonation. Your...

Primary Fermenting Finished; no sugar :(

Light spray malt arrived in the post today; just racked it to the keg and added the spray malt. Just have to tackle the warm room/no fizz problem now.

Tested my first brew after one week in keg

Thats the one orfy but no idea how to gauge the pressure (can you get a pressure gauge that fits a king keg?). Thanks for your comments.

Tested my first brew after one week in keg

    1. Laundry room separated from the main house - haven't checked the temperature. 2. Standard King Keg with top tap - not sure on regulator psi. 3. How does one balance a kegging system? 4. When I poured I just opened it a bit, it came out very fast. Not sure that's at all helpful but...

Tested my first brew after one week in keg

Hi guys. Just couldn't resist a little test of my first brew. It's been sitting in the keg (king keg top tap) for a week now and when I poured a bit off two things happened that I wasn't hugely pleased about: 1. It was very very cloudy with some white bits floating about in it. 2. It was...

Primary Fermenting Finished; no sugar :(

Hi folks. I have a situation I would appreciate your help with. Last weekend I began fermenting a new brew, just a Muntons tin kit affair, and it is now ready for priming and transfer to my king keg. However, although I ordered some priming sugar / spray malt some time ago it has not arrived...

    Newboy plays with beer kit

I primed my Wherry last night in the KK and this afternoon when I returned from work, there was a leak from the top tap. Will this spoil brew? Have now tightened it and it seems to be holding.

    Newboy plays with beer kit

Thanks for the encouraging comments boys. I am looking forward to second fermentation this weekend and perhaps even starting on my second porter-style fermentation. I've found a guy at work that's done full mashing - I might ask him to give me a lesson when I'm a bit more experienced with the...

    Newboy plays with beer kit

Hello folks. I'm new to all this beer making nonsense but I have to admit I do love a good pint. A friend of mine once offered me a pint of some gorgeous porter style beverage and it was lovely. That flavour has stuck with me ever since. About two weeks ago I decided to take the plunge, not...
