    Strange Beer Additive (Splenda)

5 gallon batch, cream ale. I'm not sure of the exact amount, 1/2 cup was just a guess, could have been more or less. Splenda is partially derived from sugar so hopefully some of it ferments out. Oh well, I'll assume it will be OK until I find out its not.

    Strange Beer Additive (Splenda)

OK, I have a strange question. I'm brewing a beer right now and with 15 minutes left I went to add my irish moss tablet and yeast nutrient. I had put the yeast nutrient in a small bowl that I had used to weigh the boil hops and unfortunately it is the same type bowl that my coffee sweetener is...

CO2 Refills in the Lewisville/Flower Mound Area?

Sorry, missed this question to me. I have been in there several times and have not received good service at all. I have never been greeted or asked if I need help and usually am made to feel like I am bothering them when I have to track down an employee and ask for help. They don't seem...

What do you think is the active element in those Eva-Drys? ;)

    Linux/Coldfusion DIY Tap Display Project

This is seriously cool, I have an old PC in my garage I can't bring myself to get rid of and this seems like a good use for it. What would it take to have the keg levels live as well? There is a growler place close to me that does it, they even have it online. I'm guessing they have some kind...

    Humidity Opinions

I use a sock filled with silica based kitty litter to control moisture in my gun safe, works like a charm. Has anyone ever tried that on a keezer? Maybe not a sock but just put in in a dish.

    Fridge control only?

Another option is to do what I did. I bought an ITC-1000 (variant of the STC-1000) one night after a few drinks. Yeah, I should put a breathalyzer on my computer. Anyway I am just using the temperature probe on it not the temp controller functions. While this same thing could be accomplished...

    Kegerator questions

Ok I just did all this as I completely rebuilt my 2 tap kegerator expanding it to 4 taps including replacing my existing beer lines. I used a 1" hole saw and it was the perfect size. Be sure to get a bi-metal one, they are just a few dollars more than a standard wood hole saw but trust me...

Oh my God. I finally made a good beer

That's some serious conviction I would have given up way before that. lol

    What type kegs to buy

Ball lock and pin lock are both corny kegs there is not a 3rd type called corny. Both pin and ball locks work fine, one type was used by Coke, the other Pepsi, that's it. Pin lock kegs are slightly shorter and fatter than ball lock so if height is an issue they may be your best choice. On the...

    kegger problems

Metal does expand and contract with hot and cold but one side of the fitting would need to be frozen and the other side would need to be heated to a few hundred degrees to make much difference. I've heated the engine case of a motorcycle in the oven and frozen a bearing to get the bearing in...

    Completed Kegerator

Looks great! I like the idea of running the beer lines up to the freezer.

    kegger problems

If you can't find the leak with soapy water imho the only thing left to do would be to just start replacing everything from the regulator out.

New Brewer - My Keezer Build

You can also buy dry erase board paint, same as chalkboard paint but its double the price and I've never seen it applied. It might not work too well on a fridge because of the texture. If one could apply it it might look really sharp in black using neon dry erase colors. I did the chalkboard...

    Just Showing My Kegerator

A few months ago I bought a kegerator on craigslist for $150, I think. It was your basic almond Frigidaire with 2 taps, a bunch of beer stickers and he had been using plastic parts bins as drip trays. it came with a stainless 10# CO2 bottle and new looking regulator, and line cleaning kit so I...

    Kegging Clarification

Hello, I'm new to kegging and have been reading a ton of great information but have a few questions to clarify. Please correct me if any part of my plan is incorrect. I currently have a Kolsh that has been in the fermenter for a few days and primary fermentation is slowing down. Normally if...

    Cardboard Bottles...Yup

This is interesting as there are two major manufacturers of cardboard type beverage cartons and neither one of them have solved for carbonated beverages.

CO2 Refills in the Lewisville/Flower Mound Area?

Nice tip! I'm not a big fan but they are convenient. I contacted them and they encouraged calling them first to make sure they have the right size available as they only keep a few in stock.
