New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I'm going to give it a shot! I've done this before using your recipe and everything seemed to work out with no issues. The only thing different I'm going to try out is having 1 dry hop addition instead of the 2nd hop addition. I'll let you know how it goes! Cheers! Aaron

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Brau, I have a conical that I ferment in, before dry hopping do you suggest that I dump the trub that is at the bottom of the fermenter? I was told by a professional brewer that trub is not great for hops. Thoughts? Aaron

Specialty IPA: Red IPA India Red Ale

I'll be making this on Sunday! I'm going to try using a bit of Kveik (Granvin strain) as my yeast. I can't wait to try it out!

    Frozen Liquid Yeast

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Yes we do have a LHBS, but the person I typically purchase from is out of town until the end of March. In the future I will just travel to another LHBS and get the liquid yeast from them during the colder months. Lesson learned. I made a starter from...

    Frozen Liquid Yeast

I went to an open house earlier today so I had realtor on the brain :) Yes I thanked the person for giving me a credit for the yeast. I'm going to try to use the yeast and hope for the best.

    Frozen Liquid Yeast

This is a great general rule of thumb. However I think it wouldn't have been frozen if the online retailer didn't put a cold pack in the package of yeast. :(

    Frozen Liquid Yeast

Yesterday I received 4 packs of yeast from an online homebrew shop that will remain nameless. When I got the yeast it was frozen. One of the yeast packs was a solid block of frozen yeast. It was an White Labs Irish Ale yeast. The other three were frozen/slushy feeling. My question is what...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I used your recipe with a 2:1 (sulfate to chloride) and it was awesome! I used a mixture of Citra, Mosaic, and Nelson Sauvin hops. I'm making two more versions of this beer with the same grain bill, but one with Citra, Mosaic and Zythos hops. Another with Citra, Mosaic, and Motueka hops...

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

Yes make the tea! I had this on tap for about 6 months. The flavor lasted for about 5 months. Even when the flavors started to fall out, it was still really good. This is a solid beer and I would follow the recipe as close as possible.

Autumn Seasonal Beer Samhain Pumpkin Ale

This turned out to be a great brew day! No stuck sparges and the backyard (where I was brewing) smelled fantastic. I'm really excited to try this beer. My OG was 1.053 and the color was spot on. I'll take some pictures of it and have tasting notes in a few weeks after it's done.

Autumn Seasonal Beer Samhain Pumpkin Ale

I'm making this tonight! I had to replace the Golden Promise with MO, but I'm a big fan of MO so I think it will turn out great in the end. I also added some spices to Organic Pumpkin Puree before baking it to give it a little more punch. The house smelled fantastic. I really enjoy the pumpkin...

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

Yes! I'm having the same results. At first I was not a fan. I just tried it now and time heals all. :rockin:

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

I just kegged this beer and I had the same exact OG and FG as you did. I think the reason my OG was higher was due to the fact that before flameout I forgot to add my wort chiller. So that added another 15 min. of boiling time to my wort. I also used a dry yeast (US-05). I am going to keg it and...

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

I kegged this a couple weeks ago and I poured my first glass.... WOW! Really great beer. It's a true winter warmer. I'm going to let it age for a little longer before I pull another pint. I'm very pleased with this beer. Give it a try!

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

I just got done brewing this one. I hit all my numbers. It was a fantastic brew day. I'm hoping this should be done (and ready to drink by Jan 6th). The only difference I made was I used an English Ale yeast (WLP002 English Ale Purepitch). Aaron

    Jaybird False Bottom

I wanted to give a thumbs up to Jaybird for his false bottom that I bought for my mash tun. The first time I used it, I had a stuck sparge and I wasn't sure if it was from the false bottom or something else. I found out eventually it was something else. Today I used the false bottom and I had...
