Open ArdBir - definitive BIAB/RIMS controller arduino based

Thanks snow tires for the reply but I dont think that the components listed are for the Nano board that is shipping for free. These have 19 resistors, 2 capacitors, 5 diodes, 5 semiconductors, 4 leds

Open ArdBir - definitive BIAB/RIMS controller arduino based

Hi David, Many thanks for a great product. I have the all-in-one for my grainfather. I also receieved the free Nano board but so far can find no information on the component values to use and a software download for it. Will there be a components kit available? Thanks Will [Dublin.Ireland]

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

I also had lost track of this - many thanks for the update Must get testing it and using it on the grainfather! Once again thanks for your great work Will

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

Hi Mats, I quite agree with you that great beers require a lot of attention to a lot of things not just the mash profile. Its just that if a recipe (particularly the German recipes) specify 5 or 6 steps it would be nice to have the facility to use them. Its only another 4 menu items! There...

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

Hi Mats, Grainfather should be shipped today! Now some Wyermans All-grain kits that need step mashing have more than 4 mash steps. Is there room to add a couple more steps 2 more would probably do it? So next test will be with the GF running like a Burco. Then it will be time for some...

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

So the first wet test was performed today! Set up was just a Burco connected to the heater relay, all percentages set to 100%. I used Mats' circuit to break out a LED to monitor the pump switching (would just replace LED with SSR when I wire up the grain-father). See Mats' latest Read.me...

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

Cheers Matts, The ovbsc version looks very interesting. One question though about breaking out the pump control: Do you mean the pad (between the silk screened J2 and the Sensor input terminal) that then goes to the right hand pad of the R3 position?

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

long time no posting but my SC-1000 pluses are all working well. We are about to get Grainfathers shipped into Ireland. These as standard come with an STC-200 (simple change over switch - only one relay) so this mash controller version will make an excellent drop in controller! Time to...

    Stc-1000+

Just to point out that this version is hardly a cheap knock off of the originals! Look at the simple logical layout of the components, the fact that they have allowed for a 3rd realy and second sensor means they are up to something else with this board. Also notice the milled slot around...

Hi guys just got 2 STC's from China guess what? Yep they are a TOTALLY new design. Pics attached but there is space on the board for a second sensor and a third relay. There is the crystal blocking the Pic data but what I can see is: G80F910D N8S7L 1407-T There is no Design Id...

Yes unfortunately! My back was killing me hence the slouch. BTW: One of the coolest bits of kit on show (forget the 3d printers and the laser cutters) was a home made DNA sequencer from a bunch of bio hackers in Cork! It was computer controlled and could assemble the amino acid bases to order!

Had a great day at the Dublin maker fare yesterday. Flashed a couple of them for our members. Was hoping for more but they will come. All the "hackers" I talked with about this think that Mats is a "Mega Master Flasher"

I think this means that the program is too big to upload. Even though then program appears to be smaller than the 32K memory available there is also the issue of the "boot loader" that is also present in the memory. Early version of the Arduino have a larger than needed boot-loader. Some...

    Stc-1000+

Have run a few tests and I am delighted with the performance. My one question (prompted by a few posts back re. settings for hy, dh and ch): I notice that my fridge undershoots a bit so much that the heater then comes on. One fix maybe would be to allow a much longer 'hd' say from 4...

Real Time Online Fermentation Temperature Monitor for ~$60

I am afraid these are the pre-made ones with fitted headers so soldering is not it. Got one channel to read in F Ok. Back to C got 85C Back to F got 185 F just from recompiling and changing a F to a C and back to F in the procedure names!. This so weird!

Real Time Online Fermentation Temperature Monitor for ~$60

Hi all, This thread has morphed a bit since it started. For anyone new to the thread there is a conflict in the OP re. the parasitic power connctions: In the shopping list: 2x 4.7k Resistors - Cheap? The DS18B20's require that you have a 4.7k resistor between the Data and Power pins...

Typical recipe; 1 5 gallon Red wine kit 5 kgs Sugar 1 1 gallon Elderberry wine kit Make up to about 4 gallons and pitch withh Alcotect turbo high alcohol yeast. The ones that ferment out to 22%. After about 2 weeks gravity should have dropped from about 1.120 to 1.000 or even lower...

    Greetings from Ireland

Sorry for delay in replying but was wading through the 70 pages of the STC-1000+ project. I mainly brew Hefe Wessen ( as I lived/worked in S. Germany for a long time) also Stouts, and most other thing as well. I am big into cider making as well. The club do a yearly group buy of fresh...

Now I also want to use my Arduino to log temperatures. No problem with the sensors and code its just a question of how to upload to my computer. I don't want to use anything more than the serial interface. So basically set the Arduino to record mode and store the data in Ram. Then later...

Hi guys, Greetings from Ireland. I am from the National Homebrew Club of Ireland and one of our members found this thread a few days ago so naturally I had to try it out. Have 3 v1.0 and only 1 1.1 so we are good to good. Only diff is the 1.1 has Elitech printed on the front and a very small...
