I tried building one a while back but never really got it working well. I used a 555 timer with a pot to vary the frequency and fed that into a octal counter (cd4022) and the output of that into mosfet drivers and several H-bridges of course powering electromagnets. the issue was I couldnt make...
My understanding of the whole raw diet thing is limited, but I think normal mash temps are high enough to remove it from the raw category so boiling afterward is not even the issue. The only brew I know of that might qualify as raw is traditional chicha de jora (an incan corn beer) it isnt...
So I came up with two recipes, I would like to make the kolsch (I have a lot of other beers bottled but everything is high abv. dark and full bodied) but I dont have the ideal hops for it. Help me choose / modify the recipes.
Kolsch

I dont know if you would want to bother with it but you could get a small transformer to provide 220vac the temp controller shouldnt draw much if its just a digital circuit and small relay, so a cheap transformer should work.
Something like this would be overkill maybe you can get an even...
Beautiful! strange enough Ive been on break from homebrewing for the same reason (actually due to limited space my cnc machine is blocking the entrance to the closet containing my brewing supplies). I will eventually post pics/videos of mine in a separate thread, but for now can you share the...
I have a very little bit of experience with it. SPICE is really just a backend to a number of circuit analysis programs, try looking for 5spice or the student edition of Pspice. If you can find a decent tutorial and have a decent knowledge of electronics they can make designing and testing...
With flysparging Ive found that you dont want the water in to match the wort out. I get better efficiency if I alternate between more water less wort and more wort less water (sort of an accordion method to rinse the grain). Ive also read that fly sparging works best with a low and wide sparge...
If system restore was turned on, those files should be backed up from a previous time.

this link is for xp but should work for media center too. You can hold F8 (I think) during boot and try last known good configuration or you can use the windows...
I think mulch in general keeps weeds down, bark, pine needles, wood chips... the main reason it isnt an issue for the hops is because by the time the needles are put there the hops are well established and not much is going to stop them.
Its less important in a fly sparge compared to batch sparge but ideally you get the best efficiency when your preboil volume is hit as the MLT is fully drained.
The only concern I have about blending beer / wine / spirits is the yeast. increased alcohol may kill the yeast and prevent carbonation which isnt a concern if youre kegging also some spirits have added sugar with can restart fermentation, adding wine to beer could introduce wine yeast which may...
I can do a 5.5 gallon batch milling grain to cleaned up in about 3.5 hours if I do single infusion, batch sparge, 60min boil which accounts for most of what I brew.
to avoid this in the future can you add a second thermo to measure temps at the heating element that will shut off if it gets above 212? If its difficult to do that I think you can even get a temperature triggered fuse as a failsafe.
