DIY Alkaline Brewery Wash (PBW type cleaner)

I've dosed PBW far heavier than required and still need a brush inside the keg. I'm waiting to burn through the rest of my PBW stash to make the TSP/90 and oxiclean mix (sodium metasilicate and sodium percarbonate/carbonate) . Is there a benefit to using Sodium carbonate over sodium percarbonate...

DIY Alkaline Brewery Wash (PBW type cleaner)

Sodium sesquicarbonate is the main ingredient (90-95%) in TSP-PF from Savogran based on their MSDS sheet. I'd use that as a substitute. It looks like both the sodium sesquicarbonate, and the sodium carbonate are what make this alkaline. I'd love a more effective overnight solution for soaking my...

Illinois Bcs 462 electric 50A brew system

It can support 2 heating elements at the same time - there are 2 in the boil kettle and 1 in the mash. One is 5500w, the other 2 are 4500w. I will PM you the google drive link for the videos, most made by the previous owner and a couple by myself running water through it.

Sale was pending but fell through (no fault of the system!) So it's back available, i'll consider parting it out of I can't find any interest near 2000. Bring offers if you want individual components.

Illinois Bcs 462 electric 50A brew system

Bump... I'm lowering the price to 2400 for the system, it includes a lot of extras. I'll PM anyone with a link to videos with the system in action. I'll also consider piecing it out of I can't find enough interest in the whole system. Feel free to make me offers on individual components.

Hah I really didn't expect you to respond to this post Kevin (cyberbackpacker)! But thanks! I'd like to sell the unit as a whole for now. I'll add some more pictures later this week. Cyberbackpacker had a bunch of videos from brewing while the system was at his place, the process was the same...

Illinois Bcs 462 electric 50A brew system

Hey all, I'm getting rid of my brew system that I picked up from another member on these forums, cyberbackpacker. It's a great system, just bigger than I need. I bought it from him for 2700 and built the stand myself, also had the brew kettles TIG welded after I noticed some small leaks. The...

    Herms brewery

Guys, My wife would like me to start brewing away from the kitchen and I'm taking the opportunity to upgrade my system. I'm looking for a good HERMS setup, not exactly sure what I want yet but if anyone is interested in upgrading or selling theirs let me know. I'd rather not spend weeks or...

    Nitrogen questions

These spreadsheets are very helpful, thanks. However I've realized now unless I keep my beer VERY cold, if I want around 1.5 volumes co2 in my beer, and be able to leave beergas alone at serving pressure (25-30 psig), I shouldn't be using a 75/25 N2/C02 mix, rather something like 60/40...

    Nitrogen questions

Sorry I wasn't very clear, it's almost fermented out completely and it's in the secondary...I'm wondering once it's completely fermented out, if I keg it and seal it up and cool it to that temperature, do I need to even apply any CO2 pressure to reach such low volumes of CO2. Judging by the keg...
