South Carolina Columbia Area - Where to get full sacks of grain?

This COVID-19 time at home had me cleaning in the garage next to my old 18cuFt kegerator fridge. My wife has also been asking when I'm going to start brewing again too. I haven't brewed in maybe 5 yrs now, but was in St Louis, MO and there was a strong homebrewing community there and there...

    Moving to Lexington, SC

Thanks for the welcome! We're still unpacking, but I did get into the garage a couple of nights ago and at least organize the brew stuff into it's own pile. I'd definitely be up for a beer at some point... Found my flasks and stir plates, got the kegerator setup, fermentation fridge pulled...

    Moving to Lexington, SC

My family is relocating to Lexington SC this July. Is there an active homebrew club in the Columbia/Lexington area? I was going to ask at a local place a couple of weeks ago when we were down there. We stopped by the Hopyard home brew shop next to the Old Mill brew pub and it was out of...

New Hop Variety: Belma- Puterbaugh Farms

Today seemed like a good day to post up what my results were. I dry hopped with an additional 2 oz of leaf belma hops for 10 days. Now that it is carbonated and chilled in the keg, there is an orange aroma and taste. The flavor/aroma is there, but it doesn't have the nose or taste that a...

New Hop Variety: Belma- Puterbaugh Farms

I am in the process of transferring mine to secondary now. I'm going to ask the guy I got the hops from for some to dry hop my amber with. After tasting what I pulled for the gravity reading, the bitterness is smooth, but my recipe was hop-bursted. I the taste and aroma seem more like a...

Need help fixing a Corning PC353 stir plate

I have two of the Corning PC 353 stir plates. One of the speed controllers for the plates is going out and I need a replacement. The motor is a 115v 60cy .29a, 1550 rpm motor. The speed controller on this looks like a huge pot resistor. Any idea where I can get a replacement for this...

Parts for Corning PC 353 stirplate?

I've got 2 older Corning PC 353 stirplates. One has started to loose it's ability to control the speed of the motor. The slowest speed is not slow anymore, it's spinning about where other stir plate is at 75% power. Any thoughts on where I can get replacement parts for this? Maybe a...

    Brush marks in carboy

Glass. At first I thought it was hard water deposits, but now I'm leaning toward plastic marks from the brush. I'm worried that I may not be able to clean them off the glass.

    Brush marks in carboy

One of my carboys has white streaks in it, I'm assuming it's from the carboy brush after a vigorous cleaning. I've tried oxy-clean, vinegar and starsan rinses, 24hr or more each to remove them and they are still there. Any thoughts on a good method to clean the marks out of the carboy...

    Clumpy Star San?

I just opened my new gallon of starsan and poured an ounce to sterilize a carboy and noticed that it had a clumpy viscosity. When I mixed in the water it was instantly milky. I've been using using starsan for 4 years now and I've never seen this happen with starsan before Has anyone had a...

    Show us your Kegerator

Thanks. The regulator setup is sort of custom. I got them from sciplus.com a couple of years ago when there was a post about them. I pieced them together with parts from mcmastercarr, hd, lowes and ace hardware...depending on what I was near on my lunch break from work at the time or my...

Glue handle back on Corny Keg? Gorilla Glue doesn't last

I would describe it as detaching from the metal on the keg. It is pretty stuck to the rubber peices, but that is only half of what I needed it to do.
