Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

I'm gonna give this version a go. Thanks! ----------------------------- Also, I'd like to make a hopped version of this (the regular kind) cider. I picked up some hops at a local HBS that I thought seemed suitable for the flavor I'm looking for, but I just don't know when to add it, how...

    Carbon water filter setup

The manual doesn't mention refilling it, but I actually got three of them, and they're rated for 45000 liters each. That's a lot of brewing!

    Carbon water filter setup

No, there is nothing marked on the filter as to which way is which, i did check before I posted. I was kinda thinking along the same lines of pushing the carbon down. The way it's pictured would be more convenient for me, but I'll adjust. Is this thing even a suitable filter for brewing...

    Carbon water filter setup

I have this GAC (granular activated carbon) water filter that was given to me. I would like to use it to filter my chlorinated city water for brewing, just brewing. It is old, but I just took it out of the original packaging. I grabbed a couple of adapters from the local hardware store and...

Sourcing Ball lock O rings (Canada)

I wound up getting O rings from a local supplier (AES). By accident I wound up with some 111 sized quad seal rings, so I'll try them and see how they work for the posts. I don't think it was any cheaper, but they're local.

Sourcing Ball lock O rings (Canada)

I bought my kegging equipment from OBK, and they've been good to me, but their pricing on O rings leaves something to be desired, especially to the pricing from Mcmaster Carr.

Sourcing Ball lock O rings (Canada)

I'm looking for a more affordable source for O rings for my ball lock kegs. I tried Mcmaster Carr, but they won't ship to Canada. Who is a Canadian friendly source, or a Canadian supplier for O rings, that sells for a decent price?

    Help planning my keezer

Here is an update. I have 4 kegs in it, which is a tight fit, a cheap and simple magnetic drip tray (cost about $2!), I installed a switch on the fan, and a magnetic whiteboard. Now that I look at the pics, I notice the drip tray and the white board aren't on stuck on straight. They're...

    How so?

Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

Yes, 2 months primary, no secondary. I'm looking to setup a basic counterpressure filling wand, as the few bottles I've filled with just a hose has foamed and made quite a mess ( I have the carbonation rather high). I have one 1 litre bottle sitting on my countertop from the original batch...

Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

So batch #2 is under way, with cinnamon. Batch #3 will be started soon. I'm gonna need a little advice on this one. I plan on bottling this whole batch (for a friend), so I need to figure out how to (safely) carbonate and bottle this stuff. I anticipate going primary only for two months, @23...

Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

So here we are. Exactly two months, primary only. I just put a batch into a corny keg, and had 4.5 litres left over to bottle/sample. I didn't bother clearing or filtering it. ABV from SG readings is 16.54%. The misses is tipsy from half a glass! :tank: I'm surprised at how little...

    Canadian Roll Call!!

Didn't see this thread until now. Checking in from Lacombe, Alberta. I've been brewing on a "beginner" level for a couple years now, mostly from kits (wine and beer), but have started experimenting a little more. Just got setup to keg. Will be trying all grain at some point. Nice to see...

Attaching keezer collar to freezer - just Silicone?

Really nice work! I think I really might have to look into the double hinge setup. Do you have latches to hold the lid closed when opening the collar?

Do you have a build thread? Id be interested in seeing it.

Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

I started a batch about six weeks ago. I think it's done fermenting now, in about two weeks I would like to run it through a Bon Vino wine filter before kegging. Good idea? Bad idea? Input?

Attaching keezer collar to freezer - just Silicone?

I thought about doing this, and I may still in the future. Seems like the best of both worlds.

Attaching keezer collar to freezer - just Silicone?

My lid is attached with screws into the plastic liner, and I don't trust it for much weight. I would trust silicone or glue more, because of the amount of surface area. Not that I've had issues thus far.

    Danby DCF550W1 keezer build

I built off the same model, and I am able to fit 4 ball locks, w/o CO2. I don't think the OPs build has enough height to put kegs on the compressor hump. This is my build.
