    Keg Pressurization Mystery

I wouldn't agree with it either, I just don't have another explanation. Keg failed to carbonate literally at all while hooked up to a tank which would pour a regular barrel without issue. Swap out tanks and all of a sudden it pours fine, and is - hopefully - now carbonating. Whatever the...

    Keg Pressurization Mystery

Ok, finally think I've gotten to the bottom of this, and my problem wasn't one problem but two problems. First, as acknowledged below was a clogged faucet, which was easy enough to repair. The tougher to figure problem was the lack of carbonation. I had assumed the CO2 tank was fine...

    Keg Pressurization Mystery

Progress! So as it turns out, the faucet was indeed blocked up. Removed it and swapped in another that's more tolerant of debris. With the ability to pour beer now, the question is why it's uncarbonated. Could that have something to do with the clogged faucet?

    Keg Pressurization Mystery

No joy, guys. Ended up venting, then taking apart both in and out valves - including dip tube - sanitizing everything and reinstalling it. Couldn't see anything obviously wrong with the poppets, and the dip tube showed no signs of blockage. Hooked the CO2 back up and could hear the keg fill...

    Keg Pressurization Mystery

Thanks folks! Will take apart the valves tomorrow and see what we see. Appreciate the tips.

    Keg Pressurization Mystery

Hoping someone can help with a little bit of a keg mystery. Current kegorator setup is two taps: one a regular Sankey, the other one a Corny for homebrew. The latter is new, but we already ran through one barrel on it with no issues. After the first barrel, I cleaned the Corny keg, left cleaning...

Anyone try out the new Perlick 650SS Stainless Flow Control?

If I could get my 650's to thread, yes, this would be the case. The threading is maybe an eighth of an inch deeper than the 525's. Not sure why.

Anyone try out the new Perlick 650SS Stainless Flow Control?

Just as a heads up to anyone considering the 650SS, I got two to replace the original Perlick 525SS units because our temperature was variable and I therefore wanted the foam control. Unfortunately, however, the 650 is deeper than the 525 by maybe a 1/4" and will not seat in the shanks on...

Flotec Utility Pump for Wort Chilling?

Should have thought of this while I was at Home Depot. Ah well, next time!

Flotec Utility Pump for Wort Chilling?

Picked up the Flotec FP0S1300X per @Mike_kever_kombi's recommendation and can confirm it works. One important note, however, and this is possibly why the FP0F360AC didn't work as well, if you have 5/16" tubing on your chiller as I did, you'll need to swap it to 3/8". The former diameter is...

Flotec Utility Pump for Wort Chilling?

Awesome, thank you. I'll guess I'll just swap them out tomorrow. Much appreciated!

Flotec Utility Pump for Wort Chilling?

After doing a bit of Googling for pumps in order to circulate water through a wort chiller (it being below freezing outside in Maine, I'm worried about using our outside hose hookup for water), I saw a few people say that they'd used the Flotec FP0F360AC Utility Pump. Picked one up at Home...

Danby converted to dual faucets has foaming problem

If it does prove to be a diameter issue, any recommendations on a fix?

Danby converted to dual faucets has foaming problem

Thanks for the reply. To be honest, I'm not sure. I'll check it physically when I'm able, but I don't see anything in the product listing (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003WXD9R8/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20) to indicate a different hose diameter. I'll take a look, though.

Danby converted to dual faucets has foaming problem

Bought a Danby DKC645BLS single faucet kegorator in February and liked it so much I just upgraded it to a two faucet system. Perlick faucets, in case that matters. With a single faucet, the unit poured more or less perfectly. Since upgrading to two taps, however, the beer is pouring not only...

    Odell's Extra Special Red?

Like scottthorn, I happen to be a big fan of Odell's seasonal Extra Special Red. I'm not usually one for reds, as they're generally a bit cloying to me, but the ESR is clean drinking, nicely flavored, and wicked strong. Has anyone tried to clone it? Or have ideas as to how they brewed it?

To Bottle or Not to Bottle My IPA

@BierMuncher: thx, will give that a whirl. As for the yeast, I think it was Wyeast 1054. (not at home at the moment)

To Bottle or Not to Bottle My IPA

Outstanding. I'll let it sit for another week, and let everyone know how it turns out. Appreciate all of the great and timely feedback.

To Bottle or Not to Bottle My IPA

"give it another week, it should go down much more. the 6 gallon fermenter is not a problem, there should still be a nice layer of co2 on top of that, especially since it was fermenting in the secondary." Thanks for the reply, and can do on the waiting. Not sure the co2 will still be there...

To Bottle or Not to Bottle My IPA

Question for the experts here as I'm unsure how to proceed. Brewing a fairly standard IPA recipe, OG of 1.057, target is 1.014. Had problems with the primary fermentation - effectively zero airlock action - but based on the krausen condition and other factors some more knowledgeable folks told...
