English Bitter - Partial Mash - finally got back into brewing

Couldn't brew for several years due to living in a tiny Manhattan studio. Finally I can brew again. Actually my 4th batch at new place, but proud of this recipe. Came out around 4.0% ABV, lovely soft head, faint aroma of the hops, and a nicely balanced taste. Easy to drink, very sessionable...

1.064 IPA stuck fermentation? Bottle bombs?

Hey everyone. I brewed an IPA a couple weeks ago, OG 1.064 from 6 lb of light dme, and 3 pounds of two-row, 40L, carapils. Pitched US-05, and now I'm down to about 1.022. Is my fermentation stuck? Can I bottle without risk of bottle bombs? Or do I need to do something to re-start...

    Securing copper pipe to tower

I think this is a good (and *duh* obvious) answer. Thanks!

    Securing copper pipe to tower

I recently refurbished a Danby commercial kegerator to work with homebrew ball-lock corny kegs. I have a copper pipe around my liquid line, which I want to secure inside of the tower to keep the line cold. I did this in the last kegerator I built, but for the life of me I cannot remember how...

    Steam Beer Fermentation Issue?

I made the recipe myself. Wanted to malto to provide some more body to the beer. I don't need the beer to end up super-close to the actual style. But as long as I get something that tastes good, I'll be thrilled. I'll give it a couple more weeks in the carboy. Then cold crash and bottle.

    Steam Beer Fermentation Issue?

If it's not finished, how low should it get you think? Beersmith is telling me 1.015, which isnt too far off from where I am now.

    Steam Beer Fermentation Issue?

Brewed a steam beer last Sunday. Hit all my numbers spot-on, 1.056 OG. Using a dry lager yeast, Safale 23. Starting bubbling by that night, went strong for a few days, but now has stopped, current SG is 1.020. Is the fermentation finished? I thought I'd reach a lower FG. Temperatures for...

Crappity Crap, what did I screw up?

Thanks Yooper that was really helpful. The pot I used was just different than my last. My last mash I got a much better efficiency, and my OG was spot on. I got almost no temperature drop out of it, and I probably stayed around 160 for the whole mash. When I first took my OG it said 1.032 and...

Crappity Crap, what did I screw up?

2 lbs white wheat, 2lbs Vienna. I used like 1.3 gallons or so.

Crappity Crap, what did I screw up?

Just finished brewing what I'm calling an american lemon wheat. OG was only about 1.040 from 3 lbs DME and 4 lbs partial mash. I heated my mash water to 170 hoping for a post-grains addition temp of around 155, but this damn pot held it's heat wayyy too well. Could my high mash temp have...

Case of Sam Adams "Summer Ale" disappointment...

See, I had it on draft the other day, and it was very meh. But usually I enjoy it. YMMV

    American Wheat - help

Oh wow I'm an idiot. Don't think my grain bag and pot can handle 5 pounds of grain to mash, but I think 2lbs of both wheat and vienna should fit and mash no problem.

    American Wheat - help

That's funny, I was just researching and thinking about vienna. I threw that into beersmith, and the gravity looks a little low though, 1.037 (3.6%), too low, or OK?

    American Wheat - help

Trying to put together a recipe for an American Wheat and I feel like I'm missing something: 5lbs dry wheat extract .6oz Cascade @ 60 min .4oz Cascade @ 5 min 1/8oz lemon peel @ 5 min I'm capable of doing partial mash so I can take any suggestions involving that into consideration.

    A Good Summer Brew?

Thanks for all the replies. Won't go cream ale, as that's what I brewed last (and loved, got great reviews on it). Think I might go some sort of wheat. Just gotta narrow down what exact flavor profile to go for.

    A Good Summer Brew?

So I'm home from school for good (graduated Delaware with my BA in chemistry) and I want to brew my 6th beer with my dad. Going to do a partial mash, and will be buying everything off AHS as I can't get my stuff from the amazing LHBS I had at school :( Definitely want something refreshing...

    Suggestions For Spring Beer

OK, so the brewing is complete...PM is pretty easy, once I was able to get my mash temp right. Undershot my volume by about half a gallon, much more evaporation than I thought, but since I shot my IBUs for the top of the style, I should be fine. Basement temp is hovering around 60 during the...
