    Long lost extract Kit??

thanks for the advice. I will just order some yeast and get it going. I just thought i heard somewhere that you were not able to use stuff that had gotten old. That will save me the money that i can order another kit or bottles or something. sweet.

Was digging through my closet tonight and found my sonny oat ale that i got from AHS. The problem is i got it like 6 or 7 months ago. all still sealed in the bags and everything. I am wondering if it would be worth it to brew it or if i should just accept my loss and order a new or different...

First batch in secondary, and I am flippin' proud of myself

I too just put a batch in a secondary. This is my 3rd batch and this is the first time i have used a secondary. I was a little nervous about contamination but i sanitized everything and I think it will be fine. I am a little concerned because when i was racking it for like a split second i...

    My Stout Brew??

Well, I thought I was ready to order my stout and get it brewing but i have done more sampling and reading and now i am up in the air. I even went out and bought a sixer of Guiness to renew my taste buds. What I was previously set on and what I still probably get, the Oatmeal Stout Kit from...

    Are My Bottles Safe??

They have been at room temp and are all still at room temp. I just put 2 in the fridge to see how they are coming along. That it when it hit me about bottle bombs so i thought i would ask, to see if i was a risk.

    Are My Bottles Safe??

I did a search in the bottling and kegging but i wanted a little more specific answer. I bottled my amber ale a little over 2 weeks ago. Today i moved a couple of them into the fridge to drink later tonight. My question is, as i was doing this i remember reading about bottle bombs and I...

    Cream Ale??

I finally got my cream ale kit from Ahs and it has an OG of 1.054. Would that be something that I consider using a blow tube with?? Also, I am going to brew it either tomorrow night or Sat. and my empty primary has a hint of smell from my last brew, is that going to be an issue or...

    A few questions??

I understand what you are saying. I am going to be doing a stout before this brew, and I guess i need to buy a carboy anyway, so I guess I will just buy one. Here is another question, If i used all Light DME , instead of 3 of light and 3 of Wheat, would it be a clearer beer?? And what...

    Selecting a Stout??

I will have to do that. I have to order some bottles for next week anyway, maybe i will have to throw in some caramel. Would that taste very good with a cream ale kit, I have heard that it is a dry beer and not creamy at all, so maybe that is not what i would want to do. I suppose i could add...

    A few questions??

What about the hops? I have been ordering my stuff from AHS and they don't have any hops that i need. Does that northern brewer have all the hops they have listed or what?? Also, does everyone recommend using a secondary for his beer, or is it just personal preference like all others?? I...

    Selecting a Stout??

The problem is where i live there is not a lot of access to different brews so i will have to rely on what you all think. I think i have decided that i am going to go with the oatmeal stout and go from there. I have a few final questions and then i will be done with all that i need i hope...

    Selecting a Stout??

Maybe I will try the oatmeal stout if it finishes a little sweet. I am like most of you I don't want a sweet beer that you can only drink a little bit before it makes you sick. but I just want something smooth and with more of a sweet taste instead of a bite. with that sweet stout listed...
