From rapid bubbles to no bubbles in five days?

Don't think I've ever seen a bubble past day 5. Nothing to worry about.

    Newb immesion chiller question

What do you do with the water after it passes through the chiller? Let it run out on the ground/down the drain? Trying to figure out a use for it other than going to waste.

    Best deal on LP tank?

Is it better to buy an empty tank somewhere and have it filled or just buy one pre-filled? Any particular places to look for good deals or places to avoid? Thanks!

Your cash register isnt broken, the beer costs that much.

I definitely got a weird look from the checkout boy at the grocery store when he rang up my $93 six pack of Westvleteren XII.

    Most Awful Beer Ever Award

Can't remember the name but it was a banana flavored lambic I tried at a beer festival. Couldn't even swallow one sip.

    First try at making labels

Yes, I just used one of the generic templates online but I don't think it looks all that bad. I'm sure they will be ruined the minute they encounter moisture but at least they were cheap. edit: after viewing some of the other labels on this forum I feel the urge to delete this thread out of...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Colder is better when you're talking about crappy tasting beer. For me to drink a Budweiser I'd want it to be as cold as possible to mask the wet cardboard flavor.

Dead Ringer IPA from Northern Brewer?

Thanks for the response. This is only my second batch, I probably rushed it a little. I did a week in the primary and then 9 days in the secondary before cold crashing. Are you talking about substituting the extra light DME for the darker stuff that comes with the kit or just adding some in with it?

Dead Ringer IPA from Northern Brewer?

Just bottled this beer today and got a FG of 1.022. Is this in the normal range for the recipe? The abv is about 5.5% and I was expecting it to be a little higher. My OG was right on point at 1.064. The sample tasted pretty bland as well, although it was still pretty cold from cold crashing.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

An old classic from Alabama elected representative Alvin Holmes on a proposed bill to allow higher abv beers to be sold in the state: "Yo, What's wrong with the beer we got ? I mean the beer we got drank pretty good don't It ? I ain't never heard nobody complain about the beer we have. It...

    My first clear beer!

How do you move a full carboy from the fridge into racking position without stirring up the sediment on the bottom? I'm cold crashing my first beer right now and was wondering if it's an issue?

What I did for beer today

Ordered some custom labels, beer thief and new hydrometer jar. Also started cold crashing my IPA.

    Brewery with no taproom?

Up until recently breweries here in AL weren't allowed to have taprooms. No on sight sales were allowed due to some ridiculous law. Now there are several and they are all thriving. Seems like you'd be leaving a ton of money on the table by not having one.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

I gave a Michelob Ultra drinking friend of mine a sip of my Harpoon Leviathan and she gave me a disgusted look and said it tasted like hairspray.

    Taking samples for gravity reading?

How do you guys normally go about doing this when using a carboy? A siphon seems difficult/messy for getting a small sample and a turkey baster isn't long enough to reach the beer without turning the carboy over.

    Northern brewer

They do have great customer service. I ordered a carboy and some other stuff and my shipping cost was $18. The next day they ran a 24hr $5 flat rate shipping special. I called about it and they gave me store credit. Didn't have to do that, but it was nice.

    Loose stopper

Yeah it's a drilled stopper with an airlock. I'll try drying it off. I was expecting a fight after the time I had getting the stopper out of the primary. Is this the kind of thing that could ruin a batch of beer though?
