    Beer for cooking

Wow thanks for all the replies. I have often asked her why it has to be flat and she just says it is what the recipe calls for. Your input her has helped me to show her that it doesn't really matter. I have now decide that I will be setting aside a few bottles from each of my batches (I brew...

    Beer for cooking

My Wife uses beer for cooking often, more in the summer than the winter. Since summer is coming up I have been wondering if I could help her out. She is always grabbing my homebrew either from my bottle stash or from the tap and using it in her recipes. She always has to make it go flat and...

What I did for beer today

After hanging out with my son last night and trying an Alaskan Hopothermia I ran around all over town to find some more of it. I really enjoyed it and now I want to brew it. Can't find a recipe though.

    Alaksan Hopothermia

I just had one of these last night while meeting with my son for a late night hang out at Applbees. I really enjoyed this beer, so much that I want to brew it as soon as I can! However I can't seem to find a recipe for it. Right now I am still brewing extract so I am hoping one of you has a...

What I did for beer today

Go to your LHBS and get some straight A cleaner. Fill a large container (I used a new Rubbermaid garbage can) with water and a few tablespoons of the cleaner. Sink your bottles and let them soak overnight. Remove bottles and you will find all of your labels at the bottom of the container - glue...

What I did for beer today

Transferred my Honey Wheat into a keg last night. While doing so I had to make an emergency trip to the LHBS. I always swap my in/out connectors so I can purge the oxygen out of the keg by putting gas down the output dip tube. Well when I swapped them back one of the poppits fell into the keg...

What I did for beer today

Brewed up a batch of Honey Ale! This batch is for a coed baby shower for my son and his wife. My wife wanted to do a coed shower with the theme "A baby is brewing". It's really just an excuse for our large family to get together and drink beer. Happy New Beer everybody!

What I did for beer today

Made up a batch of Rootbeer! Wow that was a trip. I have not made a batch in 10 years. The kids asked me to do a batch for our extended family Christmas gathering on Sunday. It is in the keg now and should be ready by then.

What I did for beer today

Bottled my Irish Death clone. It's gonna be nice! Here is a pick of all the labels at the bottom of my bottle soaking bucket. I love how they just fall off.

What I did for beer today

Soaked a bunch of bottle (65) in some straight A cleaning solution. I use my 35 gallon Rubbermaid garbage can and hole the bottles just under water until the fill and the I let the float to the bottom. Tomorrow morning I will take them out and drain them. It is a little bit of work but all the...

    Brew log sheet and/or software

Thanks for the replies. I am still trying to figure out what to do here. I think I will keep using beer smith and also create a recipe/log sheet to keep track of what actually happens on brew day. I did that for my Fishing log and that has worked great.

What I did for beer today

I transferred 5 gallons of an Irish Death clone. It is still pretty murky after 12 days in the primary. I am hoping it will darken up as it clears.

    Brew log sheet and/or software

I am looking for a simple brew log sheet. I have been brewing extract brews and I plan to go to all grain by summer. I would like to be able to log all of my brews in a notebook. I am currently working on one of my own design but I would love to see some others. I am also looking for...

What I did for beer today

I stared at the airlock and watched it bubble whilst daydreaming about the future of the contents of the fermenter.
