    How's your brew day going?

    my brew day went ok yesterday.... Did an oatmeal stout (by request again). Got a little to happy with my oats, the boil would not break well, so for an hour I had to sit and put water on the boil so it would not boil over!!!

    yup thats what i am talkin about. just wanna make sure it tastes ok, it didnt taste too grapey with 11 cans so i added 4 more and good taste. so does anyone think it will comeone out ok?

    curious if this will come out well, i've been havin bad experiances with some experiments, hope this one works well, what do u all think, i dont have a hydrometer for readings, it broke. 15 welches concentrate 7.5lbs sugar h20 up to about 6 gallons. wine yeast yeast nutriants... think...

    just gonna go with clover for the sweetness. actually gonna add some before killing the yeat off, always good for more alcohol, plus like i said honey ferments out somewhat sweet anyway.

    i'm just gonna honey it up. that is how a friend of mine does his mead, adds honey when he racks between fermenters, does not get much fermentation since the yeast is beat as it is

    its not vinagry, its almost dry, could have been the yeast i used, i used a wine yeast. still smells sweet, like cider, but the sweetness is gone. so that is why i was leaning tword the honey.figured i could kill the yeast off, then add some honey, just bad thing is it will not carbonate then...

    i just wanna know how to make it somewhat sweeter, gonna add some apple extract at bottleing, was thinking of adding about 1.5lbs of honey to it now since honey is fermentable but still stays sweet...

    my cider is a bit sour, gonna add some apple extract during bottleing. we just racked it, 12 days after we started it, it just stopped fermenting 2 days ago. anyway, it taste's like apple, but sour........ so other than the extract is there any other way to sweeten it up?

    Ceramic swing top bottles?

    just goto midwest brewing website and order swing top bottles, or goto your local HBS and get some swing top from them. they work great. I have a cpl case's of 32oz swing tops I use for mead and cider

    Cider beer

    as for the main question, it is easy. I did mine this way 5 gallons of apple cider (pasturized or unpasturized) your choice. There are two schools of though on pasturized and unpasturized. Anyway. I did 5 gallons pasturized. Add that to your sanitary fermenter, pitch in chapange yeast...

    Converting malt extract to all grain

    is there a formula for converting extract to all grain, say a 3.3lb of light extract, how would that be converted to grains? wanna do some of our extract recipes in all grain form.

    i know rolling rock does (ahh nice living 20miles from the brewery) but i cant seem to find them to buy, and the ponys they use are twist offs..... So no good for me

    Anyone know where I can get some pony bottles from? we have a brew that might be iffy on drinking, "Jalapeno Ale" and want to bottle it in small amounts. any sites with pony bottles?

    Beer Recipe that dosn't taste like beer

    dunno if this was suggested, but brew a batch without hops, basically making a malt. It will be sweet, and alcoholicy , just no bitter hop taste

    This does not look good. Help wanted

    its fine, just stained, my primarys are stained from my idophor. It is normal for iodine to stain stuff, like your hands, rags, clothes.

    one thing you can also do is do a basic wheat recipe, then when you goto your primary fermenter, add your wort, and then water upto 4 gallons in the fermenter and then the last gallon you can use cherry juice (100%) and it works great a friend brewer here does that for his cherry wheat and it...
