    will this grow

    One of the Cascades that I got from them looked like a lifeless twig as well. I started in a pot indoors to see if it was even viable. Two weeks later it sprouted. You probably have nothing to worry about.

    How long is it taking you to get sprouts this year?

    I just planted 2 cascade rhizomes, 1 in the ground and 1 in a pot. Both took a little over two weeks to sprout.

    "I suspect that my hooch, flavored with cheap walmart sugar water, which costs a dollar a gallon, and will flavor 5 gallons, will taste better than cheap malt liquor." I suspect not. If you want authentic prison hooch, you should spontaneously ferment that in your toilet.

    You could add amylase enzyme to the steep next time (If you don't want to add base malt)

    I brewed a wit that had a corn aftertaste, but have never experienced hotdog flavored beer. If I had still had some we could've combined the 2 to make the beer version of the Jones Soda holiday packs :mug:

    +1 to Starsan. I get the warm fuzzy feeling when everything has spent some time in the foamy goodness.

    Foreign Objects in the Fermenter

    If it was sanitized, then it shouldn't be a problem. If you are worried, you could wash your hands and pull it out. I think you should post a pic though :)

    How cold have you fermented Nottingham?

    I just fermented an APA with Notty @ 59 degrees. It took a couple of days to take off, but after 7 days the Krausen has fallen. I will probably warm mine up for a few days, and then check the FG.
