Pfish let me know if you're gonna try a brew as I would enjoy another opinion. I had my dad's buddy a brewery owner try it and he had fantastic things to say.

The result was one great IPA. I may make some time adjustments with the final boil hop addition and possibly try FWH another round but it will definitely be rebrewed soon. I do longer fermentations for my high gravs. You can use whatever fermenting process that you usually go with.

Carboy went in to the fridge Sunday night and I am kegging today when I get home which makes for a 19 day fermentation and 2 day cold crash.

    Northern Brewer

So they finally responded saying they are backed up on shipment of UPS ground orders and my order "should be shipped in the coming days with UPS tracking information to be emailed on the evening of your order's shipment. Sorry for the delay!" They could have notified me of this instead of...

    Northern Brewer

I checked my spam folder with no luck. I sent an email this morning to their order info email but have not heard back. I received my last package but it took a while and I never knew when or if it was coming. Like I said, frustrating when I have carboys doing a cold crash waiting for their keg...

    Northern Brewer

I didn't see a thread on this company. Sorry if there is one. http://www.northernbrewer.com/ I have only bought two things from this site and both times have had an issue with their shipping. Upon receiving the order confirmation email it states I will receive a email regarding tracking...

    All-Grain IIPA

I would focus on getting your actual measurements closest to your expected calculations. Next time your actual comes out much lower due to efficiency problems, I would consider making adjustments for a more balanced beer. A pre boil gravity reading would have depicted a low gravity reading. At...

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

    All-Grain IIPA

I would agree if it was a IIPA with a high OG but it is considered a lower gravity IPA (OG range 1.056-1.070) or a higher gravity pale ale (1.045-1.060). Having an excess of 200 billion yeast cells I consider a substantial over pitch and is not ideal as well as a waste of money.

    All-Grain IIPA

When you measured your post boil OG, it would have told you that you are significantly overpitching with 2 packets of US-05 if they were 11.5 gram. Even with an OG of 1.093 you would only wanted to use 1.5 packets of US-05. Calculations below. Let us know how it comes out as there is a lot of...

    Cold Crashing

My problem with cold crashing is that the point is too settle the yeast in a low temp which I get but for me, and I assume much others, I have to move the carboy out of the fridge to keg so I feel as if I'm shaking the yeast up again in to the beer. Any suggestions?

Strong West Coast IPA Recipe (Name: TBD)

So last night the brewing went smooth. I hit a pre boil OG of 1.050. Then some sort of fate must have taken place due to the temperature change. My wort had a really low boil off resulting in 6.3 gallons at 1.060 which is closer to the actual OG. Instead of boiling more off I decided to chill as...

Strong West Coast IPA Recipe (Name: TBD)

Probably as the Wort hits 180F and rises to boil the hop oil that has been saturated in the mash takes affect. That is my uninformed hypothesis tho.
