New to kegs, Filter before Kegging? Any other tips?

DISCLAIMER! I'm no expert, but I use a whirlflok tablet at the end of the boil. Ferment 3-4 week for most styles I brew. Then go straight to the keg, chill & carb. After about a week, to a week and a half, it's carbed and ready. Draw the first pint and toss, as it pulls any yeast that...

    Cider maker begginer needs help

I honestly know very little about cider making. That's why I was asking Yooper about splash racking. Her knowledge on brewing and cider making is really extensive.

    Cider maker begginer needs help

"Next time, make sure to siphon "quietly", without any splashing, to a new vessel when the cider is finishing up" Can you explain "splash racking". I've seen this recommended before. I'm only asking out of my own curiosity.

    Cold Press Coffee

I was worried I had put too much in as well. Especially when the coffee flavor seemed more intense once the beer had carbonated. But ultimately it has worked out well for me and I've used this same amount in several coffee stouts with success. Good luck, I'm sure yours will be a great brew too!

    Cold Press Coffee

I used 16 fluid oz of Kona and 16 fluid oz of Sumatra cold pressed coffee in a 5 gallon stout I brewed. It turned out very well and retained the flavor for the 6 months I had it bottled. Both coffees were fresh roasted and course ground at a local coffee shop.

Anyone try 3 gallons apple juice/cider and 2 gallons pear juice?

That sounds like it should turn out good. I just threw together 4 gallons of apple juice and 1 gallon of blueberry juice. Hoping it turns out drinkable.

Worst batch of beer you ever brewed?

A Baltic Porter that fermented way to high in temperature. It had such a hot burn when drinking, it required chap stick before you let it touch your lips. It eventually got dumped.

why do these things keep happening to me?

I've always known that style to be called "roach stompers". You use the pointed toe to kill roaches hiding in the corner.
