Old Kegerator - Smells Bad - Can I Paint?

When I got my chest freezer, it had been used to store meat. Mostly wild game. And it was pretty obvious. I left 2 small containers, one filled with vinegar and the other with coffee grounds, in there for about a week (after thoroughly cleaning it), and it did a great job of eliminating the...

Wow.... I apologize for never responding! There hadn't been a reply for a long time so I gave up and then must have missed the notification. Thanks for trying to help tho!

    Help With a Logo

Hey guys, I have seen threads on here before where people have asked for some of the artists on here to help them out with a label/logo and they turn out so amazing, and it looks like the people that make them really enjoy doing it. I was wondering if someone could put together a...

    Wireless temp/humidity/etc. sensor...

I actually got on here to search for anyone using this exact product. I read a couple of the reviews and one said that the temperature accuracy is not good (this particular review said up to 10 degrees off) but the concept is awesome. I think the real potential is if you could get that sensor...

Oregon Free 2nd Year Hops (Hillsboro)

We are moving, and I won't have a deck for them at the new place. They have produced a good amount of hops the last 2 years, especially for the size of the pot. Hops are Cascade. Pot, soil, and rod are all yours for free. You haul. Thanks!

Best Mash Tun Insulator, Keg Koozy!

I don't think people are arguing that it doesn't work. We are arguing that your review loses almost all validity when we know that you are getting a kickback because of it. And writing that review didn't waste your time, it saved you money. Big difference. I'll keep an eye out for your...

Best Mash Tun Insulator, Keg Koozy!

I'm with Bobby. The fact that he blatantly admits that he is doing it for the 50% off makes it feel much less genuine, especially because that is not mentioned until he was called out on it. And how much of a mark-up does he have on those things if he is selling every one of them at 50% off...

New Product! Cool Brewing Fermentation Cooler

Thanks for the clarification guys. I guess I didn't quite understand how that worked. It's nice to read all the great reviews about this product. I am definitely thinking about getting one myself.

New Product! Cool Brewing Fermentation Cooler

Do you mean cold crash? Lagering is fermenting, right? Maybe that's what he was asking about though since he said 35-40 degrees which is cold crashing temperatures.

    Trimming Back

I think it depends on if you are looking for a good harvest this year or not. If you just want to set yourself up for future years, I would let it all grow. But if you are looking to get a harvest this year, I would trim all but 2 or 3. I trimmed back my first years last year and got a decent...

    Hops already 3 feet tall?!?

You said they were 3 feet in your first post, and your ropes are about 9 feet long. Haven't taken a math class since high school, but I'm pretty sure that's 6 feet haha

    Hops already 3 feet tall?!?

They grew 6 feet in 10 days?? Holy smokes! I thought mine were kinda long for being this early, but they are only about 4 feet right now.

    Keezer powered external fermentation chamber

Not that I have ANY experience or knowledge in this department, but won't circulating the air eventually cause the fermentation chamber to be the same temperature as the keezer, and therefore be too cold?

Big brew 2012 - hillsboro oregon - brew brothers

Reviving this thread as I see this year's Big Brew is coming up and I am thinking about attending. It looks like an absolute blast, but I have one question... how did you use your wort chiller? Did they provide water?

Why not FWH on every APA and IPA

Subscribed. I really like where this thread is going. I have yet to try FWH in my IPAs, but I will be doing it in my next batch for sure. These debates and "unknowns" are part of the reason I love homebrewing :D

    Hop bines starting already PNW?

I said above that I was going to cut mine back 'til April, but after doing some reading, I am scared that they might not grow back again. I think I'll just keep the best 3 or 4 and see what happens. Maybe a double harvest??

    cooling without a chiller

So you mean you don't use any cooling method at all? Do you do full or partial boils and how long does it typically take to get to pitching temperature?
