Source for Prickly Pear to use in Cider

Does anyone have a good source for prickly pear to use in cider? Not finding much available through internet search. Seems alot harder to find than vintner's harvest fruits or other sources. Is the only option to find the fresh fruit seasonally and process for cidermaking? Cheers!

    BRBC Garage Brewery

The experience with morebeer sounds frustrating. I'm surprised they didn't provide better customer service. Did you get this resolved and get your parts from them? Or find another source?

    Simple Yeast Storage Procedure

I'm really happy to get an answer to one of my questions, and am hoping someone can answer the other question below. Is this an acceptable procedure for freezing yeast? Cheers! 6) Place the jars in the fridge (or freeze with 10% glycerin) until you are ready to use them. I opted to...

    Simple Yeast Storage Procedure

Thank you for the detailed writeup. I appreciate the simplicity of this procedure and finally decided to harvest my yeast for the first time today. Had some Gigayeast norcal ale 1 yeast from a pliny the elder clone kit from morebeer that I transferred to secondary today. From my experience...

Bubbles in beer line coming from out disconnect

Thanks for the input. I tried all of the suggestions and nothing changed it. I think it might have been the pressure as I had it set at 12psi for a couple days, then turned it down to 10. I didn't think that would make this much difference and it's odd that it didnt effect the other kegs.

Bubbles in beer line coming from out disconnect

I'm looking for some help troubleshooting a foamy pour issue I'm having with my keezer. I'm getting large air pockets in my beer line and seeing bubbles rise in the beer line coming from the ball lock out disconnect. I know one of the causes for this is if the line is too warm and I don't...

    Homebrew with backyard bamboo

I appreciate the replies, but still no recipe info or specifics other than that bamboo was used in the production of a commercial beer. Has no one tried this on a homebrew?

    Homebrew with backyard bamboo

Has anyone made homebrew with backyard bamboo shoots? This time of year I have hundreds of bamboo shoots coming up in my backyard. My dogs pull them out and love to chew on them. This led me to wonder what they taste like and give them a try myself. They have an earthy flavor, with a...

Priming sugar to beer bottled from keg

The beer is amazing straight from keg with good carbonation. I am using a bottling wand with spring tip taken off and a drilled #2 stopper attached to faucet with a growler filling hose. I fill then cap with O2 absorbing caps after giving a turn sideways with thumb over cap to purge O2. I get...

Priming sugar to beer bottled from keg

I've been trying to bottle from my keg but am not satisfied with the carbonation levels I'm retaining from these bottles. Would there be any downside to adding some priming sugar to each bottle to let the yeasties do their work and carbonate these bottles? I'm working with a 9% abv Russian...

We no need no stinking beer gun...

Is there any reason a bottling wand couldn't be used rather than the racking cane? I admit I have not read the entire thread.

We no need no stinking beer gun...

Is this a good method for beer you plan to age in the bottle such as an oak barrel imperial stout? Any disadvantage of this method over priming sugar and bottle conditioning? I haven't read the whole thread and I wouldn't be surprised if this has already been answered but there is alot of...

Courtesy of grogtag. Pretty easy to design a label using their template. Got in on a $9 for 24 label sale.

    GrogTag label sale

I've never done labels for my homebrew and usually keg, however I've been planning a rum barrel aged russian imperial stout and jumped on the grogtag deal for 24 reusable labels for $9. The sale ends today. I used one of their templates and modified it to fit my brew.
