    PID Tripping Electric Element

I made the swap and it works perfectly. Can't wait to use it with my next batch. Thanks!

    PID Tripping Electric Element

Ahh so when the ssr is turned off, the gfci gets triped because it considers any interruption a failure. That makes a lot of sense. Ill chop off the gfci plug and my controllers plug and swap them. Thanks!

    PID Tripping Electric Element

I have recently got the Brewhardware Hot Rod heat stick which has a gfci plug and I put together a temperature controller using a pid and ssr to turn it on and off to maintain a specific temperature. After I wired up the temp controller, I tested it using a lamp and saw that it was working...

    Rounding ingredients

Thanks for the input. I think i'll just run with the original recipe. They wrote it like that for a reason and I'm sure they have a better understanding of recipes that I do.

    Rounding ingredients

How many of you round your ingredients to use what you have? I am going to be brewing a Scotch Ale recipe I found online. The recipe has 1.3lbs of caramel malt 40L, .8lbs munich malt, .6lbs of caramel malt 120L. My LHBS only allows to buy ingredients by the pound, so I was forced to get...

Increasing ABV of half the batch

Unfortunately I don't have 3 gallon BBs, so I won't be doing that. If I did, I would go with the regular, cane (or corn) sugar and DME. Would be a fun test to see all of the differences.

Increasing ABV of half the batch

Oh wow. That is awesome information. Now I'm kind of thinking about shooting for the same abv in both versions, but using cane sugar in one and malt extract in the other. That would show me the differences between the FGs. If I could fit 3 fermentors in my chest freezer, I would try all 3...

Increasing ABV of half the batch

After its cooled? So you would go with extract over just sugar. Thanks.

Increasing ABV of half the batch

I brew 10 gallon batches split up between 2 buckets. I am going to make an IPA but wanted to make them a bit different. I was thinking of adding something to one of the buckets and leaving the other the same. When I was designing the recipe I was going back and forth about the ABV. So my...

    Wort Canning To Save Time

@barnaclebob I was just thinking about canning a strong wort. Then when you want to make your started, just dilute the wort to get to the appropriate SG. Is that what you would do with the stronger wort?

one 5 gallon batch into two 5 gallon kegs?

I've never done it, but I don't see anything wrong with it. As long as it's purged with co2 first. Would be just like having 5 gallons to start and drinking half.

    my tap tower build

I used to use my freezer as my kegerator but am switching to a mini fridge. I wanted a tower instead of going through the door, but my shanks are too long. This is a perfect solution. Thanks!
