    Grainfather!!

They're taking care of it and are sending me a new boiler and connect box. Essentially a brand new Grainfather, great service!

    Grainfather!!

After 4 years and 40+ brews I had the control box fuse the heater plug then the safety switch started tripping when heating plain water. I sent the support team an email, they replied with a ton of questions. I'm certainly out of warranty so let's see what happens. These are pretty...

    New BIAB False Bottoms

I know this is an old thread, but has anybody used one of these in a 20 gallon Blichmann pot with the boilcoil? It seems like the legs would be right where the coil goes.

    Boilcoil and Blichmann G1 pot

Just realized it snaps on. The first question still stands though.

    Boilcoil and Blichmann G1 pot

I’m almost finished installing my coil into my pot, and hit a weird issue. The coil separator has a ton of slack between the coil and the kettle wall so it just falls off. Main question, does it really matter if the coils touch? Secondary, did Blichmann make different versions of the holder...

Something that I do which helps prevent mistakes like you made on your brewing salts spreadsheet.. make and save one sheet with all your local water info, then never modify that. When it's time to brew, open the base sheet then save it under whatever you're brewing that day and modify that...

    Banjo burner safety question

It won't ever explode, there's no oxygen in the line from the tank to the burner.

Does anyone know of a burner with safety flame and automated gas flow control?

Blichman makes a Tower of Power especially for this if you don't want to go the DIY route. You set a temp and it ramps to/maintains the temp for you, it's $$$ tho.

For those that want to order it, here's a 1 meter M6x1mm rod from McMaster. They also sell a 2 meter, but it's probably not needed. http://www.mcmaster.com/#94185a155/=vka9e8

How about something smoky and a bit spicy called "The Doom of Valaria".

    Big Mouth Bubbler Evo 2

They seem to be quite a bit more expensive than the 1G, but I would take them in a heartbeat. They actually have level markings on them now.

Has anybody tried a 5 gallon batch in the 10 gallon system yet?

Just talked to John Blichmann in regards to a my mis-picked breweasy kit. While I had him on the line, I asked about where to put the temp sensor. He said that it doesn't really matter where you put it since the ToP temp reading will always differ from the mash tun by a little bit. He has put...

Help! my mash tun is leaking!

I have the 60 qt version of that. Are you reusing the inside seal that came installed in the cooler? I used that plus some washers, a 1/2 MPT-1/2 MPT, a ball valve and a 1/2 FPT coupler. I had to make it TIGHT to not leak. If you wont have the stock seal, I don't know how you would do it.

It's a threaded probe and a 4 pin cable that disconnects on both sides for the temp probe. Then there's a single wire for the igniter for the gas setup.

The first thing you can do is download the instructions, they will give you info on what the connectors look like. I had the same question about temperature. I may add a hole in the low/middle part of the mash tun to add the probe. I think what some people are doing is adding 3-4 degrees to...
