    Finally someone said it.

Pets named after beer? SHARE PHOTOS!

You may not want to put your name address and phone number on the internet. Cool pup though. Great name.

    A thing of beauty.

I concur. I ordered a long, specific list of random parts, fittings, tubing, and a pump. Everything came as ordered and in perfect condition. All was packaged well and arrived faster than a order that I made from Northern Brewer (a unique item that I have only been able to find there)...

    Solid strut single tier build

The fittings will hold it together for the weight you are talking about (3bbl). You can always drill into the solid parts and bolt on extra fittings if you are really concerned. The best thing though is to make sure engineer it properly. Make sure your top rails have columns underneath (so the...

    Solid strut single tier build

The strut will support a 3bbl system if you build in support columns to help with the load. It really is every bit as strong as 11 ga tubing. Platt has locations for pick up, but nothing in SoCal. Locations I want to like Grainger...but they ALWAYS kill me on the price. Good luck with your...

    Solid strut single tier build

I ended up getting mine from a mom and pop electrical supply shop sort of close to me. I say sort of because a bad traffic jam cost me in gas all i saved by finding it locally and going to pick it up. The shop was so small that they gave me a deal just to get rid of all of their last...

    Solid strut single tier build

Yes, I have mine cut and am waiting on more funds to complete my rig. Also, even if you paint over galvanized the zinc will cook and melt under the paint making both come off with various drawbacks. Still, like the OP said, he is basically planning this on being a stand that he will use...

calcium build up in glass carboys

The problem with these is that you can really easily scratch the glass around the opening of the carboy with the spinning metal rod that is going thru it. Trying to keep the metal from touching the glass with this is like playing the game Operation with a power drill and holding it in place...

You putting casters on it? Any plans to cover the pumps? Can you post dimensions? Even just in text (no diagram needed) I ask so that I can steal any good ideas. :o)

What is the absolute easiest way to sanitize bottles?

There really is no answer to that question. If you have to clean them first there are DIY projects that can cycle cleaning/sanitizing/drying into an easy step. You also have to account for space, cost, etc.

    Solid strut single tier build

Super awesome. I am mid build on my solid strut stainless stand but am stuck due to funds and redesigns. Yours is a work of beauty. Every bit as aesthetically pleasing as a welded stand but easier and potentially cheaper. Plus it can be easily modified. NICELY DONE! I love homebrew porn like...

    29"x29" MoreBeer BIAB Bag $5.50

I really think this is broken logic. In a commercial beer batch of say 900 lbs of grain, the entire weight of that grain bill would not be focused onto any single grain. It would be dispersed evenly across the mash tun. The weight of the grain on the geographic north side if a 900 lb grain bed...

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

Yes, it CAN be done. I have seen it first hand. But, it is a pain. Flow rate is slow and hard to adjust. And you leave any wort in the CFC once the feeding vessel is empty (lame on a small batch). I thought the whole point of building a rig is to streamline and make as many things as possible...

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

It seems to work for many, many people. So I could be overly paranoid. Good luck, your set up is SWEET!

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

What fermenter ISN'T at least 20" tall? Top of fermenter 20" tall on the floor (ale pale or 6.5g carboy) + 2" to create a drop for gravity + 8.5" for CFC in vertical position (which would mean you would somehow need to attach it to your stand at that exact height and not have to worry about...

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

That's been a huge design issue I am having with my rig. I want it vertically mounted so it will drain via gravity but then the exit end is lower than the top of my fermentor. I could raise the height of my rig but then the top of the vessels would be at an awkward height. Or i could mount it...

Need a recommendation: Good long stem thermometer

Thanks, I knew there had to be something out there that I just couldn't find. And thanks for the rec, stating that it was on par with a known product like the Thermapen, well, that's what I needed to hear. Thanks again.

Need a recommendation: Good long stem thermometer

Thanks. I saw both of these but as you stated, the stems aren't very long. No long enough for what I am looking for. I am reconfiguring my system where I need to move my thermometer from it's standard side of the pot port. I am planning on plugging the old port and measuring temps via the top...
