    My IIPA, critique?

This will be my first IIPA I'm going to make a 4L yeast starter with WLP001 The Special B is there for the orangish color and I do like caramel notes I selected the hops based on what I have on hand, but I'm open to suggestions. I would prefer to burn through what I have first though. I'll dry...

    Downsizing washed yeast containers?

Just wondering if anyone could give me the adverse effects of downsizing the containers of my harvested yeast? Currently I move the yeast into a 1gallon jug, let it sit and then pour off into 12oz mason jars. The more I harvest, the less room I have obviously. Is there anything wrong with...

First attempt at using Brett, quick question?

I did some searching and couldn't find concrete answers. I'm brewing a 10g saison now. OG was 5.0 and I pitched 2 vials of 565 @ 67 deg. It fermented for 4 days at 74-76. On day 5, I put in 2lb of Wildflower honey and a smack pack of 3711. It's been 10 days, and I plan to give it 21 days...

    Keeping a Saison hot?

Just wondering if this would work... I don't have a chamber to ferment in, so I've been doing it in my garage. I keep it wrapped in blankets and it's about 76ish each day outside. If I got a large tupperware tub from walmart, filled it with water and dropped this in, setting it to 87ish, would...

    Remedy for missed OG?

I missed the OG on my Cream Ale, which was supposed to be .047 and was .032. This was due to bad calculation in Beer Smith which I'm still figuring out. Thankfully I found the problem and it won't happen again. I was going back on forth about adding honey in the primary, but now I'm...

    Simple Cream ale?

How does this look, it's my first attempt at one of these. I went with a little extra cara to give it a good mouth feel. I wanted to put some honey malt in, but anything over 8oz just barfed up the color profile. Planning on a 150deg 90 minute mash.

On Deck, Belgian Strong Blonde...any tips?

Here is my recipe. Initial mash at 148 for 75min two step batch sparge at 154. Will probably ferment in the low 70s to bring out some esters. (Still pretty new but trying to get inline with the lingo and the little details)

Which order do I go in?

Brewed a beer that just finished primary at 1.011. I carbonated a sample and gave it a test and it's pretty decent, young but I think it will be good in a few weeks. Something about it screamed "Give me apricots" I was curious if I go straight from primary to racking on top of apricots in my...

    Chasing hops

Just curious if you guys are chasing hops up the side of your brew bot and scraping them back down into the boil. I often get a lot of hops on the walls and want to make sure they're in the wort... Is this common practice?

Seconds attempt at a more aggressive Saison.

My first saison turned out really good, by my amatuer standards. However it tasted just "standard." It as very drinkable and got very good reviews. The first keg got crushed at a gathering, but I had some bottles I conditioned for 3 months, and it didn't change much. If anything it just...

Having hard time hitting final volume in beer smith... need help

I followed this brew sheet to the oz of water for a 5 gallon batch, and ended up with almost 3 extra gallons of wort. Because of which, I missed my OG by .020 I must be reading it wrong...I already mesaured out exactly how much dead space I have in the mash tun and in the boil pot and...

Do you ever just make up a recipe and say "Suuure why not?"

Having a bit of free time on my hands, and some extra disposable income to test new stuff out, I've been curious about making up a recipe that doesn't "fit" into any pre-designated profile. I'm by no means even past the "noobie" stage yet, but trial and error is the best way to...

Came up short on the boil. Quick question.

My Beersmith brew sheet had some issues and I didn't catch it until the end. It said a post volume batch would be 3.12 gallons, but I entered it in as a 5 gallon batch. It was my first time with the new setup and was to distracted to catch it. Either way, I would like to top off the volume...

    5 Day cider? No way...

So I'm still very new to brewing. I've done a fair amount of all grain batches with my friend, but I'm starting to work my way to flying solo. I decided to try some ciders. Before investing in 5 gallons of any one recipe I decided to do 5x 1gallon batches all with different brands of cider...

    My el-cheapo manifold.

Not sure if this has been built on here before, but I though I would toss it up. I built a 4 way manifold. It cost about $25 using parts from Harbor Freight. I liked this design because if I wanted to add another valve/barb for forced carbonation lines or I squeeze in a 3gallon, it can...

    My ESB Recipe. Critiques please?

So my last "Help me recipe" was my Saison... Thanks to the help of HBT, the advice you gave me resulted in a great beer. So, hopefully you guys can help me with my first ESB. The FG never comes the same from program-beer so disregard that part of it Basically I'm working with the hops I have on...

    Self leveling epoxy.

I was wondering if anyone had a good resource on tutorials for using self leveling epoxy. I'm sure it's rather simple but I've seen some really bad examples on other peoples projects. I want it to be a "one and done" project. I'm using joined wood for the deck of my keezer build and want to...
