    Problem during boil

I am currently watching over my brew kettle during boil. About 2 minutes ago a bee landed right in the wort and has seemingly disintegrated. Is this going to ruin my batch? Anyone else have this problem before?

Is there a way to rig some kind of blowoff to a bucket? All I have is a 6.5 gal bucket w/airlock.

Alright so I dropped my first big beer (maple American stout) into the fermenter Friday and since have blown goo out my airlock not once but twice! It's a pain to clean but as my first blowout I wanted to know if anyone else gets excited over this good of fermentation?

    Brewery names--what's your story?

StoneShire Brewery My wife actually helped me get into homebrew and came up with the name. Really simple. My last name plus part of her maiden name. Has a nice ring to it I think.

    Pitched old rehydrayed yeast...

Alright guys I had a brain fart when cooling down my wort so how I ended up cooling the whole fermenter took hours. That being said I rehydrated my yeast before that was started. They sat covered with plastic wrap at room temp for about 6 hours. Anyone know if I caused them much damage?

    First Recipe From Scratch: Porter

Thanks for the tips. I spent a good while figuring my hops so Im glad they sound ok. I want it to be fairly roasted but not over bearing. I had thought about using crystal 60 and some 120 too. Would the light base and more use of specialty grains make it more flavorful?
