    Side by side fridge

Hello, I have a Kenmore 18 cu. ft. top freezer style that has been converted to a 2 tap kegerator. Also including kegs, faucets, fittings. All work great, moving and cannot use. I am in Tomball. Sell all for $250. If interested i can send pics

    Total kegging failure so far.

also after heating take some needle nose pliers or other tapered tip tool and give the tube end a good reaming before starting it on the fitting. I lost skin off 3 knuckles before discovering that little trick.

    Blowoff Container Water

    Those are some happy yeast!

    Slow start ?

Could be the fermenter is not fully sealed and the co2 is leaking somewhere other than airlock.

    Bummed about a flat APA

Assuming since an IPA a fairly high OG? Bigger beers will usually take more time. Try to forget about them for 3 weeks, as hard as that will be.

Can I use bottle caps that were previously sanitized?

Some don't thinking the sanitizer can cause the oxygen absorbing abilities to weaken if allowed to dry out and be restored. I have personally have used previously sanitized caps many times with no negative effects.

    Bottle conditioning/lagering Kolsch

Yes you would want to add priming sugar before bottling. Hopefully you have a bottling bucket or another plastic fermenter bucket. Boil the sugar in a cup or so of water for 4-5 minutes, add to bucket, then rack the beer on top of the sugar to mix. If you do any stirring be very gentle, you...

    Type of water for boil

I used to get off tastes from tap water, but several batches ago started using campden tablets, which kill chlorine, and have not had one issue since. Bottled water works well too.

Two single setups vs one double

If you have the space and $$ then the two individual set ups sound great, I dont know of a down side.

Bottling - when/how to add sugar

Sugar solution first then rack the beer on top. Probably overkill but I do give the beer a very gentle stir occasionally while filling the bottles, maybe 2-3 times throughout the 5 gallons. Important to be very gentle if you do stir.

    Mold in washed yeast

The yeast was only about 6 weeks old. Four weeks ago I used one jar from the same washing for a beer I just bottled up, there was no evidence of any problems when I used it and the beer seems fine. Hope it stays that way.

    Problem with temperature controller

I find the temp swings will be smaller with a full carboy inside. Plus the liquid temp will not swing as wide as the air temp does.

    Mold in washed yeast

Opened up a jar of washed WLP001 to make a starter for a weekend brew and noticed a few black moldy looking spots floating around. It was in 3 jars I had left. The yeast bed in the bottom looked clean and fine, the gunk was only in the liquid that would have been decanted. I took no pics. I...

Cream Ale Recipe (from A Noob)

Taste preference is different for all. Your options 2/3/4 do have more bitterness (IBUs) than is typical for a cream ale style, but you may like the additional hops. Option 1 with Liberty should have a lighter bitterness and would be more in line with typical cream ale styles. Hope that helps...

Cold Storage & bottle carb times

For try to move them to a warmer spot (70f or so). It greatly speed up the process. Your beer should have plenty of yeast no need to add.

    Under-Fermented

If you had measured 1.022 for 2 or 3 days straight it was done, if it was a single reading then you don't really know. F.G.s are targets, not all beers finish dead on. If the beers are well carbed but not excessively carb'd you are likely OK. I think the off tastes are likely just from the...

    Carbonation Issue

Likely the bottles are not the problem. You did not state how long they have been conditioning. 3-4 weeks or more is not uncommon to get satisfactory carbonation. Moving to a warmer place (70-72F) will help. Lastly, when you are ready to try one, let it sit in the fridge at least 3-4 days...

A question about starters and stir plates.

I find that after about a day and a half I will start to see some lighter and darker colored swirls in the turning liquid. Terrible description but if you see it once you will understand what I mean. If you see that it is a good indicator it is done.

    Worst part of bottling

To me it is just part of the hobby. I will get skewered for saying this, but kegging is not all that much easier, still many things to clean/sanitize, plus getting to chase the occasional weird leak in the delivery system. I am thinking of going back to my 22oz bottles with a good quality...
