HELP! 1cm of 'Crap' at the bottom of my bottled beer (3rd batch)

sounds like a little bit more than normal but nothing to worry about. How long has it been in the bottle and how long was it in 1st and 2nd fermentation? My advice would just be careful about pouring it and enjoy!

    2011 Rogue Double Mocha Porter

is this the one that came in the big blue bottle earlier in 2010? I think I have a bottle of that around here somewhere.

    What books do you recommend?

My recommendations: Complete Joy How to Brew (I use the online version) Its not homebrew specific, but I love Charles Bamforth's "Beer: Tap into the art and science of brewing". The guy has a ridiculously fantastic resume and a level-headed perspective on the beer universe. He's also quite funny.

Double bittering hops/Cut boil time in half?

Couple things... Thanks for the input. This actually sounds good to me, I prefer beers that aren't overly bitter, and I've found that most of the beers I've made have come out a slight bit more bitter than I prefer. PS: HUGE bonus points fr being a fan of Dawes. Fantastic band, seen them...

Double bittering hops/Cut boil time in half?

I'm what I like to think of as an intermediate homebrewer (Mini-mash due to space and equipment limitations) but a thought crossed my mind today. My normal brew process is to boil between 2.5 to 3 gallons for an hour. Between the 60 hop addition and 30 minute hop addition I do nothing. Would...

Here's my "collection". I've also got my Pennsylvania License to Carry, although I don't carry. Got it mostly as a failsafe if I'm ever pulled over on my way to or from the range. Henry Golden Boy .22 Walther PPK/S 380 ACP Walther PPK 380 ACP 1916 DWM (Army Issue) Luger 9MM

    Walgreens is brewing now

I'm assuming they're twist off caps? If not, that's not a bad price for some bottles.

    Brooklyn Brewery Cuvee Noire

I had this a couple nights ago. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. A great stout without any of the harsher, roasted flavors that US brewers sometimes go for.

    Volkswagen?

I have owned a 2010 VW Golf 2.5 (Gas engine, no TDI for me) for nearly 11 months now. just about 13k miles on the clock. Absolutely zero issues. Free oil changes, too! I consider myself somewhat of a car enthusiast; I regularly visit car blogs and keep up with the latest offerings. I was...

Adjustments for a 1-Gal Test Batch

I've done some ready and I think 2.5 would be best for me actually, I could do a full boil since 2.5 is usually the amount I boil for my 5gal batches. I haven't stepped up to all-grain just yet. Now just to find some recipes!

    Caramel cream ale?

I just remembered I have about a case of this I brewed back in March/April. Has anyone here let this age for this length of time?

Adjustments for a 1-Gal Test Batch

I can't believe I didn't think of one of those small electric scales. They're always found in the backseat of a car on COPS!

Adjustments for a 1-Gal Test Batch

All my beers have been 5 gallon mini-mash batches, white bucket fermenter, you know. I'm interested in trying a few unique recipes (Peanut Butter Porter, Pumpkin Ale) and I'm not sure if I will like them, so I'd like to make a 1-Gal test batch. Besides reducing ingredients (obviously), what...

    Anyone involved with BJCP?

I'm looking to get involved and become a certified Judge. I headed over to the BJCP website and it was very informative on the tests, styles, and things of that nature, but how do I get started, besides taking the test? Are there things I need to accomplish before sitting for an exam? How do I...

Some say... The American Top Gear needs work

i would advise everyone to go watch the first 3 episodes of TGUK from either season 1 or season 2. TGUS blows those episodes away. No questions asked.

Some say... The American Top Gear needs work

I thought tonight's episode (3rd) was the best so far. I laughed quite a few times, and I'm happy to see the hosts a little looser. Its not a copy of the UK version, but entertaining in its own right. Looking forward to more.
