    Doble Doble Trouble

Hey erryone - We made a Doble - Doble for my son's birthday 6 years ago. I opened a bottle and they are flat. Doesn't taste terrible, but no fermentation. I'm looking for advice on whether or not this project is a lost cause, or if there's some alternative solution like putting it all back...

Pumpkin pie imperial stout recipe help

Anyone brewed this? Success or no? And what kind of yeast did you throw in it?

    Alcoholic ginger beer

Any luck on cloning Ginger Libation? I'd been studying in MA, and now I'm back living in CO. Ginger Libation blew my mind and I'd love to make something similar.

    Mozz Curd Question

Yeah - Mine was basically doing the same thing. The best result was when I pressed the curds into a ball, but then I still didn't get a good stretch. I haven't had a chance to try it again since my last post on account of being out of town for the summer, but my plan is to try it again, only...

Input please...want to make a huge beer!

Any thoughts on doing an extract version of this beer? I just saw it in Mosher's book, but don't have an AG set up. Curious if anyone has any thoughts as to if there's any way to mimic the process?

    Doble-Doble Toil and Troble?

I was just looking at this recipe in the book - any thoughts on how I could do this as an extract recipe? It says that I can get up to OG with 13lbs of DME, but just wondering if there's any alternatives to the process that I would want to consider?

    Mozz Curd Question

I'm on my 6th time making mozzarella now and been getting basically the same result each time: I get good curds, when I add 175 degree water to them and let them sit, they never get elasticky? The product I'm getting is cheese, and it's not bad, but it's no mozzarella. The first few times I...

    Dry Hop/Cold Crash??

Thanks for the feedback guys - There wasn't nearly as heavy fermentation as I'd expected. I hooked up a blowoff hose, but it doesn't look like I'm going to need it. Some of the hops rose in the krausen, but a lot of them are still in there. I'm planning on siphoning with a sanitized grain bag...

    Dry Hop/Cold Crash??

Just brewed my first IPA (6th brew). Was meant to be an IIPA, but misread the recipe and used LME instead of DME, ended up with an OG of 1.052. Anyway, when buying whole hops to dry hop, the guy at my beer store recommended pellets. I decided I'd try both pellets and hops. So here's the...

    Oatmeal Stout Conundrum

Just a quick reply, this beer came out great. Primary for one week, then secondary'd for a month, bottles for a month. Since this is my first time brewing w/oats, I'm not sure how much I can contribute to the oats. From what I've read, without doing a mash, oats won't add to mouthfeel, but...

    Fats & Oils?

I just brewed an oatmeal stout with some pretty great results. Was thinking I want to make another, but make some change and add some coconut. I was looking forward to adding coconut creme in the last 10-15min of boil, but now I'm seeing that the fats and oils are bad for my beer. I can't...

    Oatmeal Stout Conundrum

Also, I'll say in retrospect, I didn't realize the amount of water that the grains was steeped in was so important to the finished result. We figure 3 gallons because we have a 5 gallong brew pot and keeping it under 4 gal has helped control for boil over.

    Oatmeal Stout Conundrum

Thanks for the response - After reading the article plus the Mashing vs Steeping article, I'm still a little confused about what we did. If you (or anyone else) can tell us what you would call our procedure and why, that would help us out: Placed grain & flaked oats in 3 gal of water, heated...

    Oatmeal Stout Conundrum

Just started our third batch oatmeal stout. Steeping the grains and flaked oats at 150. Got the temp up to 150 then realized that I didn't toast the oats! My girlfriend is running to the store to grab some instant oats, I was thinking of adding 1/4 lb and just continuing the recipe. Any...
