Cheap labels that are not a PITA to get off the bottle

I print out using return labels and put them over the caps. If they're centered they don't really attach to the bottle itself.

How to make best use of wild hops

Sorry to revive the older thread. But my brother found a bunch of hops on his property and so we're looking into brewing with them. I haven't been able to find a ton of great info. 1. How did yours turn out? Any tips? Does it matter which cones you use, or are they all good? 2. Why would it...

    Lost Power

I have a charcoal grill, but I don't really have time to light it and get it going hot enough to then utilize it. We'll see how it goes...

    Lost Power

I am twenty minutes into a 45 minute boil and my electricity just cut out. I'm brewing an extract kit. I'm thinking wait for a little while the bittering hops continue to do...well...I don't really know what they'll be doing at this point...then add the final hops that were 2-5 minutes. Chill...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

To be fair, I probably would have assumed pale ale in the first place with the "regular one" description.

    Poppets and Connections

So I was connecting a corny keg to my system and it was leaking air. As I had just killed one that connected just fine, I decided(is there a better combination of excitement and disappointment than finishing a keg?) to switch the poppets and things. I don't keg very often and when I finally...

How long to condition at room temp BEFORE fridge?

Probably something. I say throw a six pack in, leave a six pack out, and compare.

    Fermenting Temperature

If the recipe called for DME and you used the same number of pounds of LME, you will have a lower gravity. Can't remember the conversion factor, so I'm gonna guesstimate 80% of sugars in LME compared to DME, which would work out to about your numbers.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Been a while since I was there, so I could have the exact terms wrong. Olive Garden lists their beers under "bottle" and "premium"(I could be wrong about the bottle one). Listed under premium? Regular old BMC. Not even sure there were any premium BMC beers listed.

    Probably Paranoid

Cool. All kind of what I figured but thought I'd check. Thanks all.

    Probably Paranoid

Like the title suggests, I'm probably just over thinking it. But anyway. On March 15, I brewed a Wee Heavy(1.077 OG). For the first two weeks I was fermenting in the front coat closet, ambient temperature about 55°(wish I'd have thought of this earlier in the winter). Fermentation was going...

    Gravity reading at a week?

If you're still getting noticeable air lock activity, I don't think it's time yet.

    3rd bad batch. Help!

As long as the refractometer reads consistently, does it even matter that the gravity it would read is wrong? If it doesn't change it's finished. Unless you're pretty concerned about abv. This could be a useless post if the gravity read on a refractometer keeps changing constantly because there...

    getting the final gravity down

I'm surprised no one asked you what seems like an obvious question: Did you end up with the full five gallons? I'm on my phone and it's hard to tell if it was a full boil or partial with top up. But easy to boil off more than expected or not add enough which would throw it off big time. I'd take...

Would love feed back on my new process

Boom! I misunderstood. Good call guys.

Would love feed back on my new process

Does everyone else roll their gas grill inside after every use? I use charcoal now, but grew up with gas and the grill stayed where it was used 24/7/365. Why is leaving your burner unattended a problem then? Unless I misunderstood, it wasn't on. I don't have one, but you make it sound like they...

    Grain got wet. Still good?

Haha. Nope. But still. I want to understand(though I likely never will).

    Grain got wet. Still good?

How does that even happen? I mean. All jokes aside. I really don't see how that happens.
