    Preferred way to bump OG on cider.

    I am getting ready to do a cider contest with my HBC. I have made a few ciders using juice not from concentrate then bumping OG (to 1.065 ) with 2lb of white sugar and 2 cans of fruit punch concentrate.     Double decoction

    I did my first double decoction today it took about 6 hours from mash in to carboy. But after sparging the grains there was this funny looking gray goo on top the grains. Never seen that before even with other all grain batches. Any insight would be great thank you.
