Volume of liquid and forced carbonation

When force carbonating beer, does the volume (as in, how much I have, not volumes of CO2) of the liquid matter in regard to the pressure used to force carbonate? Due to a boilover and about a gallon of trub/dry hop loss, I only got about 3-3.5 gallons into the keg. Set the pressure to 30PSI and...

    Galvanic corrosion?

Pretty simple question here. If I punch a hole in my (aluminum) brew kettle to attach a ball valve, would I need to worry about galvanic corrosion between the ball valve/washers and the kettle?

Why didn't I make a stir plate sooner?

Harvested from a six-pack of Bell's Two Hearted, took a little less than a week in 4 steps. Ended up with just under 24oz starting with bottle dregs, going to use a jar to make a full starter next week to pitch into an IPA I'm brewing.

    Orange Peel + hopstand = ?

Searched, but couldn't really find an answer to this. I'm going to be brewing an IPA this week or next that I've brewed before, but I thought I'd try it with a hopstand this time. The issue being, I normally throw in .5 oz of sweet orange peel with 5 minutes left in the boil. With the...

    Mash tun cooler conversion/screen question.

I picked up a 10-gallon cylindrical rubbermaid cooler for Home Depot and put a weldless ball valve on it with a torpedo screen; the problem being, the torpedo screen didn't fit completely and I had to bend it a bit to make it lay mostly flat on the cooler bottom. Will this kink have an effect on...

    First all-grain brew question

I posted this in the Beginner forum and got absolutely no love, can someone here help me out with this? I just finished brewing an IPA (as my first all-grain brew!) via the BIAB method; nailed my OG thanks to 80.7% mash efficiency. However, I forgot to take boiloff into account and ended up...

    Adding sugar, post-fermentation question.

I just finished brewing an IPA (as my first all-grain brew!) via the BIAB method; nailed my OG thanks to 80.7% mash efficiency. However, I forgot to take boiloff into account and ended up with 4 gallons instead of 5 into the fermenter. As a result, my OG of 1.066 took a hit to an OG of ~1.052...

    First batch bottled!

Went pretty smooth aside from one mishap. Lost about half a gallon due to incorrectly attaching the spigot to the bottling bucket, but I find it an acceptable loss as a Stupidity Tax to the beer gods. The setup: First six-pack bottled: The complete haul, 34 bottles + half gallon...

    Oh god.

Screw everything about cleaning bottles/peeling labels. OxiClean made it easier, but never again. Never. I will gladly pay for new bottles at my LHBS for each new batch. Never again. Never. I'm sorry, but after 2 hours and barely 40 bottles to show for it, I had to get that off my chest. Never.
