AHS Limited Addition White Christmas Stout

Here's the other thread.... No definite answer but a few clues to head in the right direction. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/white-stout-444036/

AHS Limited Addition White Christmas Stout

Hey Folks, I recently received an email newsletter from Austin Homebrew Supply informing me that they had released their limited addition White Christmas Stout ingredient kit. It sold out in less than 2 hours. Does ANYONE have the recipe for this?

    Home-brew-off

Ok, time to wrap up this thread. We had our homebrewers meeting last night and went over the general format. Being the first competition there was input from members to change up the competition a little bit in order to make it a little more anonymous for the judges... IE they wouldn't have to...

    Lemon Wheat

So it's the bottle/keg aging that is better off "young," that makes a little more sense. You'll have to forgive me, I'm still finding my way in the homebrew world.

    Lemon Wheat

I always hear that Wheat's don't take as long in primary. I've got a similar 5g recipe batch in primary right now. I'm sitting at 10 days right now with temps 66-70 and still has a slow bubble coming out of my airlock. I haven't checked gravity yet since I was planning on waiting 2 weeks before...

    Home-brew-off

I'd just like to clarify that the judge stacking is a guess and observation only. I've been known to be wrong before. The good thing that comes out of this is that all the proceeds from the sale of his winning beer will go to a charity of his choosing.

    Home-brew-off

AND, it's unfortunate that you didn't get any feedback on your brew. They said that they would hand out any tasting comments at the next meeting so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

    Home-brew-off

Whitey, I ended up not entering...that means you know who I am now lol. For the rest... I wasn't able to enter because I had to work till 1:30 and the registration at the brewery started at 11:30 with a mandatory meeting at noon. Sucks. They sold out of judges tickets right before I got there...

    Home-brew-off

Update... Homebrew comp has now finished. The winner brought in 20 of his friends/family to vote for him wiping out the rest of the competition. I won't participate in a popularity contest in future competitions. There has to be some sense of anonymity in order to prevent stacking the deck. It...

    Over Carb

So here's a question.... I think my beer is over carbed, I have bubbles in solution lots of bubbles... Will this go down by itself? The fist sample I took was at 12 days. It was heady and had tons of bubbles in solution. There were no off flavors that I could taste at this point. I'll sample...

    Over Carb

I've been in bottles for 12 days now so I guess it's a bit early. I'll take a look at the video as soon as my boss stops bugging me.

    Over Carb

Can anything be done to fix an over carbonated bottle of beer? I have a full batch that I'm trying to fix. Pop the caps and recap everything just to release the pressure and hope that it balances out?
  15. D

    Beer already carbonated?!

I hope I don't hijack this thread but what about over carb'd beer? Is there a way to tame them down? Crack the bottles open and then recap? Bad idea?

    Extract

Sorry, not a home brewing system... I wish. 1: I wish I had the money for it, 2: I wish I had the space for it and 3: I wish I could re-enact that scene from "Strange Brew" where they drink their way out of drowning in beer. THAT said, I am contemplating entering an extract brew in a homebrew...

    Extract

Sorry, I have a recipe that requires 7lbs of LME based on 5g. In order to convert that to 10 bbl I would need 602 lbs of lme??? 43g in bbl x 10 = 430g= 86 5g batches x 7lb per 5g... This seems kind of ridiculous don't you think? Or am I thinking about this entirely wrong? Obviously this is...

    Extract

Is it too much of a pain in the arse to scale a 5g batch to 10 bbl batch based on an extract recipe? Just currious.

    Bubble Bubble, Toil and Trouble

Thanks for the reassurance. I bottled and will let it sit for a couple weeks. Pretty excited to taste this one... the sample I pulled when bottling was very tasty! D3

    Bubble Bubble, Toil and Trouble

Well, here's where I am so far. I brewed an Amber Jan 20th and hit my OG of 1.052. Temps were 66-68 in Primary I moved to secondary Feb 2nd. Gravity at 1.012. ( I've followed the 2ndary debates and still chose to move it. ) Temps for secondary were 60-62 with WL german kolshch 029. Today...
