Corny kegs - ball lock or pin lock?

Hope I'm not being a PITA in this forum, geesh! I've been all over it in the last week. I'm looking at corny kegs, and I wonder - what type do you guys go for? What's easier to maintain, has more accessories easily available for, etc? I'm doing my shopping and I want to be set from the...

Help!!! My brewery-bought keg is pouring undercarbed!!!

So I know this isn't necessarily homebrew, but I'm really stuck on the pressure of this keg I bought from a very well-known local brewery. I bought the keg of pilsner, and brought it home. I hooked it up and realized my tank was basically dead/empty after a few pours. The regulator read at 15...

Looking for CO2 supply in Vancouver BC

Hey all! I'm back to brewing again - this time I have a full size kenmore fridge/kegerator. I just got my brand new co2 tank, a 5#'er, and I'm looking for places to get it filled. Anyone know of any *current* places I can get it filled?

When I'm secondary-ing onto fruit, is It ok if the fruit has sulphites? And if it matters, would cooking it down do anything to help?

Anyone's SWMBO have major issues with the smell of brewing?

Mine absolutely refuses to let me brew while she's sleeping....or the kids are home...or when she's awake, because it's such a major inconvenience to her. I had to cancel my brew day I told her about in advance because she wasn't going anywhere...

    Cornerstone Ale

My 4th batch was friggin amazing! Very dark, rich, malty, and strong! I decided to call it Cornerstone Ale, because it's exactly what I wanted to make when I decided to brew. So it's made from 2 cans of coopers draught plus some DME. My big question is, does anyone know what sort of hop...

    Smash beer

Ok so I take it that smash stands for single malt and single hop....now I have a question. Has anyone made one with a pilsner malt and citra as the hop? If so how did it turn out?

    Rite of passage!

Popped my first homebrew today! Damn was it ever good. It was the first batch I made and had that cheap yeast smell, but when I popped it there was no trace of that smell left. It was pretty undercarbed, after only a week of course, but wow it was WAY better than commercial. No reeky aftertaste...

    Bottled 3rd n 4th batches!

First one was a bit disappointing- made with pumpkin and spice, did nooot taste like it. Tasted pretty weak and watery. Bottled it anyhow and added a bit of pasteurized pie spice just before bottling. I'll let it age, try it in 2 months. Second one is my best yet; dark, malty, strong, and a...

    Neeeeeew Booottles! :)

So I got some bottles from work that were going to scrap, and I was pleased to find that the ones I saved from the smelter were 98% brand new, only having taken a trip through the bottler. So they either had a minor dredge of beer/beer-sanitizer mix in them, or they had a swish of water in them...

    Using kettle for other purposes?

Hey guys I was just wondering whether it was a good idea to let SWMBO use my kettle for making turkey soup. I know there would be fat/oil and such from the turkey, and that obviously it would be removed by cleaners such as soap or something, but will this remain in small amounts and have an...

    Hmmm, too warm?

Hey all, I know there's been a lot of discussion lately as to temps, and I was hoping someone might have a different sort of advice. My situation is that now that I have power in my brewing space, I would like to also keep my finished brew in there, so that I follow the agreement I made with...

bottled for the first time tonight!

Ok so I posted this morn about bottling buckets, and SWMBO was quite pleased that I let her sleep then took her out shopping. To my delight, she was unexpectedly ok with making a trip to Dans, and picked up a bottling wand tip. I bottled my first two batches tonight, and have a few 650 ml's left...

Bottling bucket- how much should it cost?

Hey guys, I hope I'm posting in the right place. Just curious as to what it should cost for a decent bottling bucket with spigot and racking cane. I'm eager to bottle my batches that are ready, I think I've let them sit long enough, they're looking pretty clear and smell great! :mug:
