Outdoor hot water for cleaning station.

Very cool. I put a hose bib on my back patio that has hot and cold water. Its awesome, great for washing the dogs too. It was right under the kitchen sink so tapping the hot was really easy.

Broken Glass Carboy Horror Stories Compendium

Had that same blue one with crinkle bottom break on me last week. My fault though i think, the beer was a bit on the hot side when it went in. I needed to leave and figured I would just let it cool in the carboy. Was fine for half hour or so then I head a little crackling popping noise...

    Doubling the yeast

Will doubling the yeast cause any real problems? I have an extra Safeale US05, and was wondering about throwing it in my next brew (also uses us05). Any harm? not worth it?

    Lagering with basic fridge

yeah thats what threw me off on the yeast. its Brewfrem Lager, says for lagers or pilsners. it says the "included yeast will preform well when fermented as an ale." between 64-72 trying to keep it on the low end they say. i have a fridge in my garage, i can put it on the warmest setting...

    Lagering with basic fridge

i used a BB kit, which says to do a primary ferment at 53-59 then lager once SG is stable, for 3-4 weeks, and SG should drop to FG, or can be brewed as an ale between 64-72. i was thinking about starting at ale temps then lagering, i dont have a good way to controll primary temps right now, its...

Im brewing an octoberfest from extract kit, and was wondering if i can lager it with a basic fridge. the directions say to lower the temp by 1-3 degrees per day, and i cant really do that without a temp controller. if i go from primary fermentation at say 60 degrees to putting it in my fridge on...

    Cidery Flavors when Kegging

Flush the keg with Co2 before filling with beer. I have threaded ball connectors for this reason, connect the beer fitting to you Co2 and this will let it fill from the bottom of the keg. Co2 being heavier than o2 will force it up and out. Hold a lighter at the top and when it goes out the o2 is...

    Newbie kegging question

I've been force carbing mine. Usually 30-35 psi for 24-48 hours, I taste after 24, and adjust from there. Just go till it tastes right to you. Everyone likes a little different Carb level. Remember to disconnect the gas line from the keg before adjusting the pressure lower so the beer isn't...
