    Game of Thrones Mead

So after making my mead ready to drink for the 2014 got season...I got pregnant about a month after it started - girl problems lol. And of course now I'm busy nursing and I made the batch 20% alcohol..so I haven't tried it yet in fear of not being able to sober up in time lol. Last year when I...

    Yeast aftertaste

Ok I've looked at my notes - For the wildflower mead I bottled that had a yeast aftertaste (most recent one) 1) I made a mistake with the yeast type I actually used 71b-1122..however the other mead I made last year was made with ec1118. 2) Started Apr 12/13 - racked to secondary at May 7 3)...

    Yeast aftertaste

A couple of the meads I've done have had a yeasty aftertaste. Not sure if other ppl can pick it up but I can. I def rack and give weeks/months in between rackings. For the 2 that I noticed I used 1118. Is this a clearing prob? Both were pretty clear. Any feedback please!

    Favorite tea meads?

I looked back at my notes and it looks like I added a 1/2 tsp of acid blend. Never thought I'd be able to taste it:) Maybe it just blended with the mead flavor well!

    Help!

Kind of looks like its the nasties from the yeast. Is it a beige cream color? Did u just finish a bubbly ferment?

    Favorite tea meads?

I did vanilla with choc hazelnut tea. The mead tasted a touch citrusy at the time of racking...so hopefully the vanilla can cloud that over or it might come out tasting weird.

    Am I rushing my mead?

Stovetop I've had the same issue. I've had a mead sitting for 6 months that's still cloudy and one that is 2 months beside it and is very clear (naturally). I've added the 2 part - Kiesol and chitosan to the cloudy one about 2.5 months ago and nothing. I currently have it sitting in the fridge...

    Favorite tea meads?

Hi Everyone! I have a gallon of wildflower mead that I'm going to rack on a tea bag or two. I initially thought Hibiscus tea but then drank some and decided the flavor wasn't what I was aiming for. I definitely don't want to create to floral or perfumy of a flavor. I tried some...

    my first mead

Don't move onto your clearing agent and bottling until its done fermenting. Take your gravity reading. If you don't finish your ferment and stabilize you'll have bottles potentially explode on you. Ppl who don't stabilize will wait months to ensure that there's no fermentation left. I was...

    my first mead

Hey Duff, The only way to tell if the ferment is close to being done is if you took gravity readings with your hydrometer. Did you take these readings? If so what are your numbers? Bubbling stopping doesn't always mean ferment has stopped. While your mead is fermenting its producing CO2 which...

Show us your Mead in a photo!!!

It does look like a lot of headspace but it also looks like it's in primary so hopefully its pumping out CO2 which should protect it somewhat. I'd move to secondary just before the ferment is done and use a much smaller vessel.
