    Kegorator Downsizing *gasp*

Thanks for replies everyone. Considering your feedback and my other research, I'll stick with two bottles and run both.

    Kegorator Downsizing *gasp*

Hey All, I'm going be downsizing from my 6 tap full size to a smaller 4.4cu 2 tap setup. I currently have both CO2 and Beer Gas for stouts. My question is, is there a way to setup the new kegorator to only use the Beer Gas? I'd like to be able to run regular lagers and IPA beer out of one...

    BigDubz Big Basement (e)BIAB

The current ventilation setup is a 6 inch inline fan hung above the kettle that blows out of the one window in the basement. It's similar to the one shown at thelectricbrewery.com and I've got a stainless mixing bowl serving as the hood for now. It's got a variable speed switch on which I...

    wilserbrewer BIAB bags

Thanks Cody, I improvised a similar idea with a stick that I cut a notch into at the water level I wanted to maintain. Just got my new bag from Wiser yesterday and I'll report and compare when I brew my next batch.

    wilserbrewer BIAB bags

It does indeed. I'm gonna go ahead and order a bag from Wilser and give it shot. Worst case, I have my old 20 gallon kettle that I could mash in with a bag, which could gravity feed my e-kettle ala kettle-RIMS. The hardest part of recirculating a biab is being able to tell you have a...

    wilserbrewer BIAB bags

Thanks for the reply Wilser and Inkleg. Crush is from a Barley Crusher mill set to the thickness of a credit card, single pass through and I use a March 809 pump with the output ball valve set at about 1/3 open. This is for a 82 qt Bayou Classic pot with a full sized false bottom. Like you...

    wilserbrewer BIAB bags

Wilserbrewer, I'm using a bag made of poly voile right now and the problem I'm having is that the mesh is so fine that when I pull the bag, I can still see liquid sitting on top of the grains. This liquid slowly drains out. If I were doing a simple BIAB, this won't be a problem, but...

    Brad's eBIAB 240v recirculating rig

Thanks much for responding. I followed that link down the rabbit hole a bit and found another float that has a 23mm hole, which I think will fit the tubing I have on hand. As to the idea of get a stuck bag while recirculating, I've had that happen once in the first three brews on my...

    BigDubz Big Basement (e)BIAB

I've read in a few places that sunlight specifically can cause the hop materials to decompose, causing "skunky beer". I threw up a sheet of cardboard over the window and turned out the lights. That brew is sitting on top of the chest freezer I use for fermentation, but since its a saison, it's...

Going to add Window-to-Underground-Gun-Fighting-Pool as a phase 2 project.

I like the idea of no-chill, especially if I wanted to do back-to-back batches and get the kettle cleared of the first brew asap. Right now I have a 50 ft immersion chiller that fits beside the element and with the 45 degree tap temps we have, I got down to 66 in about 12 minutes. Just to...

    BigDubz Big Basement (e)BIAB

Hmmmm... Maybe build a fold down table for the brewing setup or brew right on the chest freezer and then throw some chairs along the long wall on the right side for :mug: Alternatively, turn the CF so it's along the short wall in the back and then the brew setup can go where the CF is now...

    BigDubz Big Basement (e)BIAB

Yup, recirculating throughout the mash. To prevent the bag/grains from touching the element there are three things at play. 1. The element is really low in the pot, maybe 3/8 of inch off the bottom. brewhardware.com tri-clamp solder on fittings make this possible with a ripple element. 2...

    BigDubz Big Basement (e)BIAB

Last night it was 5 hours and 15 minutes from turning on the panel to cracking a victory brew. I did have the grain weighed out (crushed right after started heating) and all 9 gallons of water in the kettle from the night before the brew. I did get distracted while the heating to strike...

    BigDubz Big Basement (e)BIAB

First Brew is in the Bag! Here's the whole setup put together before starting yesterday, right to left: Make the wort, ferment the beer, serve the beer:mug: Flipped the panel on a started heating to strike temp at 4:30pm. Water had been filtered and treated the night before. Had to...

    Brad's eBIAB 240v recirculating rig

Excellent build! Can you share where you got the float you use on the recirculation tubing? Thanks

    Show us your panel

Here's my eBIAB 30 amp panel. All the components save the PID are from the ebrewsupply DIY kit. It's not a lot on a big box, but the box was free so why not. I think I have room for additional PID's if I go three vessel in the future.

    BigDubz Big Basement (e)BIAB

Small update, POWER!:rockin::ban::tank: Everything checked out with a meter, with the only problem being that the element firing light is on constantly and flashes brighter when the SSR fires. I'm guessing it's the voltage leak from the SSR I measured (3-4v).

Sketchup indeed, I find it's an excellent tool for getting ideas out of my head and sanity checking them. I checked out your build thread, very excellent stuff so far. As for my build, I had a bit of setback with the kettle. I was pulling dimples for 1/2 SS couplers and the one for the...

    My eBIAB Basement Build

Looks awesome. I really like the spray nozzle. I am trying something a bit different with mine, but if it fails, I'll probably imitate your design.
