Tried to save a cooked mash - or did I waste more grain?

SG was 1.074 with a 6.5 gallon batch, giving an efficiency of about 65%, which I usually get. I used Safale 05 dry yeast because it was the most attenuative of the ones I had. If you are patient, I'll post FG in a few weeks.

Tried to save a cooked mash - or did I waste more grain?

I brewed a porter a few days ago. I used a recipe here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f68/black-betty-american-stout-190295/ I mashed in at 153 and set the thermostat on my BIAB kettle to 153....or at least I thought so. Actually, it is a PID thermostat and I set it to 'learn' the...

Need Feedback: All Simcoe Late Hopped Amber Ale.

Thanks for the input. Jammin: did you mean to move an ounce from the 4 at flameout to a 10 minute addition and another ounce from the four to add to dry hop (I already was going to dry hop with 2 oz -- this would make 3 oz for dry hopping)?

Need Feedback: All Simcoe Late Hopped Amber Ale.

Correct on the color. I am more interested in the hopping schedule and if it would taste good.

Need Feedback: All Simcoe Late Hopped Amber Ale.

I am going to be brewing a batch tomorrow. I need feedback on what you think of my this recipe. I am looking for a beer that is a bit of a hop bomb, one that would show off the Simcoe, but would also be fairly balanced. I like a maltier beer with some residual sweetness, too. 9 gallon BIAB...

Where do you guys get bottles?

I get mine from an Asian restaurant near my home. Great food, and I have become friends with the owner. She saves bottles for me every week, and I bring her samples of what I brew.

My brother and his talented girlfriend just made me beer labels. Octoberfest nurse with a syringe. Just like the hospital where I work.

4-wire GFCI 220 volt cable with a 3-wire dryer outlet?

P-J, Thanks for your insight. I'm considering having an electrician install a 240 V outlet in the garage, since the garage is on the other side of the wall in which the 3-wire 220 V outlet is installed in the laundry room. My wife would be happier if an electrician were involved, as she has...

4-wire GFCI 220 volt cable with a 3-wire dryer outlet?

Thanks everybody, for the input. P-J: I presume that a 5 ms response time on the GFCI will add a degree of safety. If I install a spa panel or have an electrician install a 4-pring GFCI protected outlet, will these have an appropriate response time? I can use the GFCI cord as an extension...

4-wire GFCI 220 volt cable with a 3-wire dryer outlet?

I am ready to take the plunge into a electric BIAB setup. I have a 5500 watt element to install in my brewpot, a PID setup, and a 17-foot GFCI protected 30 amp cord such as the one in THIS post. My question is this: can I use this cable with my existing nongrounded 3-wire dryer outlet? i...
