Just had this years batch. I think it's even better than last year's. It is a bit more balanced (I thought last year's was heavy on the ginger.)

For my grounds, I tried to squish the wires underneath the washer, then soldered it and then covered it in epoxy to protect the connection. Works fine thus far.

I would just like to add after a few months: Don't scrimp out and buy the cheaper PID off of Amazon like me. Buy the Auber. The Amazon one is a POS.

Seconding this. If you're having a tough time on parts, I found it easy to score the plastic lightly then do a full blade depth pass afterwards. The plastic and the foam are two very different materials that react differently to the blade.

I only use it to control the mash. To boil, I unplug the PID, plug both elements directly into the wall and let them go at it full blast. Gives me a rolling boil with 8 gallons.

I built my controller using These directions. It was pretty easy and worked great. I used cheaper components from Amazon instead of the Auber ones though.

I used a box cutter/xacto knife to cut out the extended shelving parts. Then the flat white backing just peeled off. Took maybe 20 minutes. Pretty easy.

The new model of the 440 BL replaced the screws with glue so you have to cut out the door instead. Much messier...

I use pint glasses. I like to collect them from breweries i have visited.

I did the 2 crates from 5 boards posted on the second or third page. I went with the wood glue and pneumatic brad nailer. Put them together pretty quick. Word of wisdom though... Because I couldn't fit the boards in my car, I had to cut them in smaller pieces at Home Depot. Plan your cuts out...
