    Belgian wont carb

I left my Belgian in Primary for 1 month and then in secondary for 2. I added the appropriate amount of sugar and let it sit for another month around 70 degrees. I opened one up and it tasted awesome but sweet, and wasn't really carbed up at all. Very very slight carbonation but clearly...

    Officially got the bug

I'm excited for the hefe as it will hopefully be my "show off" beer to friends and family. My good friends will love the others, but my parents, sisters, girls i know won't touch a belgian or ale. But everyone loves a hefe in the summer!

    Incredibly strong IPA - Help!

Yes, those kits are supposed to be self contained so they contain all the fermentables. Also, you said you added even more sugar after it was in the 1.1's. I would think you are in the 7% range.

    Officially got the bug

Haven't even bottled my first brew but have 15 gallons fermenting right now. - Belgian tripel (in secondary) - Jamil's evil twin (end of first week in primary) - Hefeweizen (Day 2) The belgian is a little dark but already tastes awesome, cant imagine it in a few months. Jamil's evil...

    Turkey baster fell in carboy

what did you get it out with? Yea it was clean and sanitized, I actually think I have a better chance of introducing infections fishing it out then leaving it in there

    Turkey baster fell in carboy

just the tube part. It feel into the carboy when taking a hydro reading. It was cleaned and sanitized so not to worried. I thought about trying to get it out but I think it will be basically impossible. I'm just going to leave it until bottling. Thoughts?

When to move Belgian trippel from primary to secondary

Not in a rush, have another brewing that I expect to finish first. Just want to make sure I do this right as its my first brew :) I'll leave it for another week(3 total) then put into secondary for a month. Then bottles

When to move Belgian trippel from primary to secondary

So I took a gravity reading and the tripel is down to 1.02 from 1.083. Right in the FG range and putting me at 8.3 ABV. There is still a pretty big krausen on top but shouldn't this fall? Not sure if I should put into secondary or leave it in primary. Or if its almost ready to bottle and I can...

When to move Belgian trippel from primary to secondary

My secondary is a 5 gallon carboy not 6.5. Considering this is in a 6.5 gallon and its all the way to the brim, I dont think I want to use the 5 gallon for primary (I guess with a blow off I could) I'm going to give it 2 weeks from brew date (next weekend) and I'll take a gravity reading...
