    Making a cranberry spiced ale for the holidays, need some input.

    Thanks for the replies, I've been stewing on this for the better part of 24 hours and I really like the idea of using the whole fruit in the secondary. That cranberry walnut ale sounds delightful, I think I may just use that idea of adding them to the mash, was gonna do the boil but I like the...

    Making a cranberry spiced ale for the holidays, need some input.

    So I'm thinking about crushing up whole cranberries and adding them to the boil and then adding 100% cranberry juice in the secondary, just not sure if these methods will give me the flavor I'm looking for or if it will just water it down and end up sour. Anyone ever do anything like this or...

    using coffee in a secondary

    When you say marbles do you literally mean marbles? Is this to weigh the bag down? Also, I must confess, I've stolen tons of your ideas in the past off of other posts so...thanks man!

    using coffee in a secondary

    I also have a French press, how do you go about infusing hops with? I'm intrigued as IPA's are my favorite. Actually even through the winter I do an IPA about every other brew. I actually plan on using these coffee ideas in an IPA, sounds weird I know, but I went to a craft beer tasting and...

    using coffee in a secondary

    Thank you for the advice, this is exactly what I was wanting to hear. I had figured that there would be enough alcohol present in the secondary to kill anything on the beans but I just wanted to be sure. I have a bur mill so coarse grind is right up my alley, would you suggest giving the grinder...

    using coffee in a secondary

    Thank you all for the reply's, I'd say I have a good base to go off of now. I think I am still going to use beans but maybe down the road I'll use brewed coffee instead. Thanks again for the input. Cheers

    using coffee in a secondary

    Well I had planned on putting the coffee in a muslin bag and just cracking the beans, so I guess I don't plan using "ground" coffee. I'm not looking for brewed coffee flavor, I just want a slight coffee essence. Thanks for the advice though.

    using coffee in a secondary

    Hey y'all, I'm wanting to use ground coffee beans in a secondary fermenter and I was just wondering if anyone had any input on how to do this and keep everything sanitary. I just don't want to screw up 10 gallons of brew by doing this the wrong way. Thanks in advance for any advice! Cheers

    Im new to using pumps, question for y'all.

    I'm thinking about adding a pump to my rig and was just wondering how to properly clean and sanitize it. I'm sure it's simple but just wanted to know before I started guessing. Cheers

    What are you drinking now?

    I'm drinking something I made at the moment. It's called hopnormous citrus IIPA. It's 113 IBU's and 8.7%abv. I used predominantly citra hops and also added lemon, orange and tangelo zest in the boil, has an amazing citrus character and despite the high IBU it's quite smooth! Rather nice on a...

    Help figuring out parts for 3 tier stand propane manifold.

    Bob, at this point I will not be running pilot lights or ignitors, just want to keep it cheep yet safe and functional;). Ok with this knowledge in hand what are the list of the rest of the fittings I will need to get this done right? Patrick, I'm using a 0-40PSI regulator. Thanks again! Tim

    Help figuring out parts for 3 tier stand propane manifold.

    Bob, I plan on going with high pressure. I guess I am confused, I will need ball valves and needle valves or just needle valves. I guess I thought you just had to go propane tank hose to bottom of manifold then a length of pipe to first tier, use a tee then a ball valve and another length of...

    Help figuring out parts for 3 tier stand propane manifold.

    Ok I know I am probably beating a dead horse here with the whole propane manifold question but, I have no idea really what parts I will need to build a manifold for a 3 tier tree style brewing stand. I plan on using black pipe for the tubing and teflon tape and pipe dope on all the connections...

    Tips for using wyeast german ale yeast for a kolsch.

    Ok, I found another place about an hour away that has wyeast kolsch II, so I'm going to drive up and get it first thing in the morning. Y'all know anything about the kolsch II vs the regular kolsch?
