    Blichmann Glycol Chiller Issue

    Thanks, I appreciate your input. Looks to be a $200 part, from what I've been able to find.

    Blichmann Glycol Chiller Issue

    The fan is fairly loud. Though, I do hear a click, and it seems like the fan temporarily quiets, but then ramp back up (maybe a 5db drop in noise). I don't hear any other sounds. Took a temp reading of the condenser coil, and it held at 20C.

    Blichmann Glycol Chiller Issue

    Hi All, Recently, my Blichmann Glycol Chiller has stopped chilling. I've gone through Blichmann support, and while helpful, didn't ultimately determine the reason for the unit to stop chilling. Curious if anyone else has run into issues and has any wisdom to pass along on how to fix it. The...

    Grist Analysis: Monster Mill 3

    Thanks for the link to the craft brewer's conference pdf...very interesting. The thing that stood out is this... "Results for Mill Setting ALL of the breweries with a VERY coarse grind had good brewhouse efficiencies (89% and above). NO breweries with finer grinds had efficiencies in the 89%...

    Spike Solo vs. Brew Boss vs. BrewTools B80

    While $400 additional for the B80 vs B40 isn't chump-change, it does provide some future proofing. Also, most all of the accessories will cost pretty much the same, so further reducing the % cost increase of the 'total system'. @deuc224 also raises a good point about being able to do...

    Grist Analysis: Monster Mill 3

    Ah, I think I see then... At 45/1000th gap, 70% of milled grain DID NOT pass through the #14 sieve Of the 30% that DID pass through the #14 sieve, 16% DID NOT pass through the #30 sieve Of the 14% that DID pass through the #30 sieve, 6% DID NOT pass through the #60 sieve, and 8% DID pass through...

    Grist Analysis: Monster Mill 3

    Hi Eldplanko, I've got the same mill, and am interested in your analysis. However, I must admit, I'm not exactly sure how to interpret this data. Would you mind stepping me through it a bit?

    Spike Solo vs. Brew Boss vs. BrewTools B80

    I was in the same position a few months back, researching all I could on the single vessel systems for brewing 10 gallon batches. Ultimately, I did go with the Brewtools B80. Yes it is expensive, no denying that. I spent roughly $3,200 for the main system and all of the accessories I wanted...

    Picobrew Z

    Ordered a Z2 when the 'kickstarter' had raised ~2.8M already. I have an estimated delivery date of Mid-March 2019.

    My FULL-ON electric build thread

    Wow, truly inspiring build you have going here. My buddy and I are putting together an electric all grain setup too (though, quite a bit more crude than yours), using the arduino and labview. I've got the temp probes controlling the heating elements, the floating point valves opening and...

    220V --> SSR --> 5500W Heating Element Question

    Ultimately, I plan on building a fully automated system centered around the arduino; as in, push a button and a number of hours later I have 10 gallons of sweet liquid sitting in my fermentation vessel. It might be pie-in-the-sky, but something I'd like to do. Thus, if I have mechanical relays...

    220V --> SSR --> 5500W Heating Element Question

    Thanks guys for all the feedback and recommendations. In hindsight, yeah, it was a stupid question/thought. I haven't worked with 220v too much, more experienced with 110v with neutral. I'm leaning towards the 2x SSR route without mechanical relays / switches. I'll have GFCI between the...

    220V --> SSR --> 5500W Heating Element Question

    excuse the drawings...unfortunately, it's the best I could come up with. Also, I know I left out the ground wires...just trying to simplify it. My proposed method: Suggested method using 1 SSR: Thanks in advance for the enlightenment I'm sure I'm about to receive :-)

    220V --> SSR --> 5500W Heating Element Question

    I'm in the process of building my electric brewery. I've been researching the various ways to supply power to the heating elements (1x SSR, 2x SSR's, Switch to Mechanical Relay to SSR). It seems like using a switch and mechanical relay is the preferred method, mostly due to safety. My...
