    Questions about All Grain.

I just received a nice amount of extra cash...Much more than I was expecting. So I now have the means to go all grain. How ever due to a lot of rain through out the year (on the coast) boiling out side is not an option. So I need to come up with a way to do it inside (in more than one brew...

    Skunk-proof beer.

What do you all think of this? There is a way to skunk-proof beer, and it is used by the Miller Brewing Company. Instead of using hop flowers to bitter their beers, they use a special hop extract called tetra-hop. The isomerized alpha-acids in this product have a slightly different molecular...

    Lme + Dme???

I am about to brew another batch, and am wondering if adding 500 grams of DME to a tin of LME (instead of Dextrose etc) is a good idea?

    New Plastic?

I read somewhere that new Plastic should be treated with a baking soda and water solution before using, but can't seem to remember where. Does any one know how much baking soda should be added to the water?

I am wondering if one could let the beer carbonate in a 5 gallon beverage cooler, and bottle say three weeks later? Would that work?

Looking for ideas... How do you keep your temperature down? Have any of you used an air conditioner (within a closed unit) to control the temperature?

First batch is in the bucket.

I think I killed one pack of yeast, by putting it in water that was to hot. After 30 minutes in a yeast starter setup there was no activity so I dumped it and used another pack. Other than that everything went pretty well I pre-froze two ice cream buckets full of boiled water, and poured...

$65.00 later I am in possession of 2 (used) Plastic primaries (each large enough for 5 gallon batches), 2 (used) 5 gallon Glass carboys, 1 large cooking pot, 1 siphon, 1 hydrometer, 1 bottle brush, 1 large plastic stirring spoon 1 smaller stainless steel stirring spoon, airlocks. etc. Another...

    Primary fermenting container.

The place where I might be purchasing my equipment wants to sell me a 10 gallon Plastic container (like the one on the web site) that does not have a place for an air lock on the lid. They told me to place the lid on loosely, and everything will be OK. http://eartheasy.com/eat_homebrew.htm...

    Bottling???

What would happen if one were to leave the beer in a glass carboy with a siphon that had a valve on the end of it? When one wanted a beer one could just open the valve fill their glass and shut it off..... If this question sounds Stupid....I am yet to Brew my first batch.

    About to begin

Hi all, I have been researching everything I can find on the web about making my beer, and came across this site, and like what I have seen here so far. I picked up two (used) 5 gallon glass carboys last week for $4.00 each, and plan on purchasing the remaining equipment later this week...
