    Amylase? Mash or fermentation?

Amylase is already utilized in the mash (kind of the whole point of it, actually) since it, or rather, they are provided by your base malts. There are 2 types: Alpha and Beta, which work best at slightly different temperatures. Alpha, which works best at ~158F, breaks down the longer starch...

    GABF woes

I agree. Though I luckily didn't have any problems this year, the last 2 years were not good experiences. I couldn't even get in the first year, and last year I kept being rejected because it wouldn't recognize my member ID. Ultimately, through sheer tenacity I was able to get my tickets. TM...

So, am I the only "No TV" weirdo here?

Got rid of Comcast about ~5 years ago, and I live in a north-facing apartment, so that more or less precludes the option of a dish. The TV I have now doesn't get channels (no digital receiver). Not really enough of a sports guy that I can't wait until the next day to read the news, so that's...

    anheuser busch keg

Keg re-purposing is always a touchy subject around here, but you may want to make sure it's not still the property of AB before cutting into it. The Brewers Association set up a web site to return wayward kegs. Can't speak to how well it works, or if you even want to use it but here you go.

3 gallon technique - mash tun?

I do 3 gallon batches on my system. I went the typical converted-Rubbermaid-cooler route but used 5 gallon coolers instead of 10 gallon.

Beer bar recommendations - by state

Can't believe I forgot that one too. One of my favorites. Another couple, would be one of the 3 Yardhouse's around town (Denver, Lakewood and Lone Tree) and the various Mellow Mushroom locations (Denver, Centennial and Lone Tree). While not explicitly beer bars, they all have really good beer...

Help deciding on name for a beer bar

Where are you located? A reference to your locality (e.g. Ale-abama, Brew York City) might be a good idea.

we are all a bunch of nerds

I'm sitting next to the stack of comics I bought today and a Rubik's Cube, so I'm getting a kick out of this thread... I consider myself more of a geek in general (and especiallyabout beer) and wear that badge with pride, but the terms are largely interchangeable. Beer is one of those rare...

The single best beer bar in your state?

The food at Euclid is awesome. Haven't had a chance to make it to FreshCraft yet, but one of my friends who is also a beer geek absolutely loves it. The Yardhouse and Mellow Mushroom (both chains, but I think may be exclusive to CO) both have really good food and great beer selections.

The single best beer bar in your state?

For Colorado: Falling Rock Tap House in Denver. ~70 beers on tap at any given time (none are BMC), plus many more in bottles including some that weren't on the menu. Used to be my local when I lived downtown. I miss going to that place on a nightly basis...
