    troegs

They had impending descent in bottles when I was there but that was the same week it was released. I find most of their scratch beers to be very good even if they aren't a style I generally drink (ie stout). I almost always get a scratch when I go to the brewery. Just neat to see the...

Just about all of their beers are amazing. The impending descent is no disappointment. Hopback amber used to be my go to until perpetual became a year round. If you haven't made it up to their new Hershey brewery (I assume you have) it is awesome. Wonder how many local guys and gals...

    Airlock bubbling again in secondary??

I have had it happen before. Just from disturbing it you may start it actively fermenting again. Mine usually slows considerably within a day or so.

You know you're a home brewer when?

When you can pour a homebrew without getting a "yeast bomb" at the end of the pour. Even after drinking a few. Or you pour commercial beers so as to not disturb the yeast layer that is not even there

My big ben pale ale tastes super sweet, apple cidery tasting...

^^^^^^^^^^ this ^^^^^^^^^ Just give it some time. It is amazing how much a beer can change with a few weeks of cellar time. I always put a few from batches in the way back of the closet. I often forget they are there. They improve with age to a point. I have had a real good homebrew that was...

    New to the brewing hobby

Welcome to the addiction, er, I mean hobby. I have done some table sugar to prime. Didn't by any means ruin a batch. Not ideal but assuming you used the mr beer ingredients you may not have a whole lot of ideal options. I generally use corn sugar or dried malt extract (DME). I have also...

best beer you have ever tasted

My best beer: too many variables and choices. My most memorable: first batch of Irish red ale. Turns out my sanitizing wasn't up to snuff and it was like a mouthful of vinegar. Only batch I ever ruined. So not too bad on that front. Just something I will NEVER forget. Crushed pride

If you could only drink one beer for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Troegs hopback amber. A distant second would be victory hop devil

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I have done 5 gal batches when I lived at home with my parents. When I moved out and into an apartment with SWMBO I picked up a mr beer kit due to space restrictions. I found it made decent beer with some modifications (using DME instead or in addition to booster, additional hops/spices) I...

is brewing beer worth my time?

I, much like many others, enjoy making the beer. I remember when I brewed my first batch. I gave some to a bunch of friends and family just to see their faces when I told them I made it. It is a thrill for me to brew it, bottle it, then when you finally get to taste it.... I get excited. Is...

    New member.

I am a new member here. I have been brewing for a few years and took some time off (got married, new job, bought house... Etc. ) While living in a small apt I resorted to a mr beer kit. It was a step back from the 5 gal kits, but with some tinkering and experiments I had some great results...

    Duesseldorf Alt Bier

My first post here, but I have been brewing off and on for a couple of years now. I have recently picked the hobby back up. I have used the 1007 yeast as an altbier. I had found it was very true to style. Just watch your fermentation temp. Keep it in the range and I think you'll be happy...
