Texas All Grain Brew Setup! Frisco Texas

I may have some tee fittings, but that's it. Not sure it would be any more economical to buy them from me though.

Texas All Grain Brew Setup! Frisco Texas

It is a Hanna Instruments HI98103. Picked it up at my LHBS PM me with your #. I'll be around the house tomorrow. Headed to Ray Roberts for some fishing Sunday. :ban: Not sure what you had in mind on the misc fittings. With thekraken responding first, I would let him take a look first.

Texas All Grain Brew Setup! Frisco Texas

Hi everyone. I've also posted this on Craigslist and will keep the two posts up to date. Images are also on the CL post. Thank you! https://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/for/d/all-grain-brewing-eqpt/6579043363.html Backing out of the hobby and selling my all grain brewing eqpt. While I am...

Drilling into stainless with a bit that is not stainless

Bobby M has a Tungsten Carbide bit as well at a reasonable price. Takes about 30 seconds per hole, including drilling the pilot. Strongly suggest using cutting fluid. I needed to drill 9 holes in my new set up and 1 bit got me through 6 and half holes. If you have a lot to drill, I'd suggest...

    All-grain Brewing Alone

So many good suggestions here! The main items I see is be organized and prepared. The project manager in me looked at my process in terms of the "critical path". Those items are heat water (time consuming for 10 Gallon batches with a herms coil), mash, lauter, bring to boil, boil, whirlpool...

Bottom Drain Keggles with Ceramic Insulation Coating

The weight for one. My mashtun was a bottom drain, so lifting that thing off the brewstand full of spent grist was a pain as well - especially with no handles. Second, the 12" opening and the ensuing lip that is created. It seems something was always hiding underneath, no matter how thorough...

Bottom Drain Keggles with Ceramic Insulation Coating

Wow! Just Wow! Good looking setup BrewKaiser. I've taken my first step towards electric, but I chose to purchase the Megapot kettles to start with. I got tired of the keggles. Can't wait to read about how it all works.

Brew stand build. Couple of questions and advice needed

Can't say I know anything about a tippy dump, but as far as the steel for a stand goes, I went with 2" mild steel - 14ga. That's to brew 10 gals on. A local trailer retailer/fabricator welded it all up for me based on the specs I gave them. After labor, it was $300. Like yourself, I didn't...

    Increasing Efficiency

I agree with this mostly. When I brew a BoPils or an Octoberfest, I almost always use the Braukaiser method for the enhanced double decoction - it indeed adds a flavor that is worth the effort. I also generally see an efficiency increase. That having been said, I would not use a decoction as...

    Baseball tap handles

We actually stayed in Soldotna for a few days. :-) The Kenai River was really crowded though. Combat fishing isn't all its made out to be. Not sure if you know him, but Dale Spalding is who we stayed with. I trimmed about 7" off each bat. Drilled a 1/2" hole in the bottom and then...

    Baseball tap handles

So my son and I went to Alaska this summer and on the way, the Alaska Airlines Lounge in Seattle had a Pyramid beer on tap with a sweet tap handle - if you love baseball like we do. Using the inserts I picked up at Lowe's and bats I collected from a couple from ballpark visits this year, this...

Can anyone tell me if this is oxidation?

Sounds like this was a kit? If its darker and hoppier than what you would expect from a kolsch, then sounds like you may have gotten an Amber Ale recipe kit. Have you contacted NB? They might be willing to send you another kit if you got the wrong one...

    Brewpi question's

You could also just use a regular indoor/outdoor thermometer. On of the probes going to the cask and the other hanging in the room. Unless you want to log temperatures, no need for the complexity of the Arduino/Brewpi build...

    Clean crisp beer

Kegging and force carbonating will speed that up. Not to mention no sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Commercial breweries also add flaked rice that helps give a crisper feel to it. Between that and filtering, you'll notice a huge difference. Try one thing next time (fining, secondary...

    Switching to All-Grain

All-grain can certainly get as expensive as you want it to be. The mashtun and HLT are a big chuck of costs, but there are a lot of little things too - fittings, hoses, etc that sneak up on you. If you are looking to save some coin, BIAB is a good intro to all grain. If you're handy, DIY is...

New equipment flub - mash temp too high

Keep brewing and you'll figure it out over time. I went through 2 or 3 batches when I built a new HERMS system before I had it down.

Trub Going Into Carboy - Bad or OK?

I whirlpool but generally don't worry too much except for volume to make sure I get my 10 gallons. Unless you let it sit on trub too long, my experience is you don't get enough off flavors to notice, thus not making it worth it for all the extra work.

    Increasing Efficiency

I guess that depends on what you are comparing that mash too. Seems pretty thick for a mash IMO. As compared to a 1.5-1.75 ratio mash and all other things being equal, you likely would see a drop in efficiency.
